If it safe to assume that the system could end up being as powerful as the Sager np9262? Or am I just crazy?

It is still limited to a mobile CPU vs desktop CPU.

Although, I configured a dell with SLI 8800's and it came out to $5500. That is... umm... right.

a maxed out 9262 is somewhere around $4200.

I once configured a Dell with 4 year on-site warranty + accidental damage and got a 4300$ price tag. I'm not sure where that 5.5k came out.

Oh ok good, they changed the pricing on it.

The SLI 8800 option used to be +1000,now it is $700
the computer is also availablewithout the extreme cpu.

I think all these leaked configurators are not accurate.

    No it's not 5.5 and it's 700$ only from 8700M SLI. By configuring the basic M1730 with a T7700, 8800M SLI, 2GB RAM (4GB is less than 100$), 2*320GB HDD, Wireless N, 4 year in home warranty + accidental damage warranty I got 4.4k.

The Dell M1730 is best compared to the Alienware M17x.
    - they are both mobile chipsets and has dual videocards (SLI)

Those two have no chance against the Clevo D900C/D901C (Sager 9262).... because of the quad-core desktop CPU.

    That would be correct.
But since people want to compare...fine by me. But however, this is not the Dell forum.
Sager will offer SLI, wait for it and stop asking question as it will not speed this process up. Dell started offering SLI, but no one received the laptops yet.

I configured a dual-8800 XPS 1730 on the Dell web site, as close as I could to the np9262 I'm getting. The price turned out to be about $1700 more for the Dell.

If money is no object, though, this could turn out to be a very nice gaming machine. I know some people were disappointed in the overall 3DMark score, but the graphics scores were extremely good relative to a single 8800.

if money is no object you still should buy a d900c for the cpu.....
people with lots of money are often smart, and smart people don't buy a dell.

As far as being = to or > than for a DTR. No chance.

    Dell 2 HDD / Clevo 3

Dell Core 2 / Clevo Core Quad

    Dell FSB 800 / Clevo FSB 1066

Soon as Dell catches up, sure. In the meantime the D901C has been around for 8 months. It's a bid sad that Dell hasn't managed to come out with anything that can match the power of the D901C, 8 months after the fact.

I love how pompous some Sager people are .Basically we have someone who just said only morons buy dells. Well this moron has been pretty happy with the dell. )

How come it came 1700$ more than the Sager? I don't think so.
Like I've said, it came down to 4.4k with that config I posted earlier. Maybe you people always go to the last model and config it. The Sager (with the same config, except a Q6600 and 3 year Sager warranty) came down to 4k. Not such a big difference, considering Dell's in house support and accidental damage warranty and the fact that you can get 2 *320GB HDDs for 50$ more. Use this to configure.

PhysX PPU has yet to prove viable in the current era of games.

That is why people are very hesitant to even purchase one for their high-end gaming desktops.

Most games use a built-in physics SDK (Havok and such) to do calculations using CPUs... now taking advantage of multi-core CPUs.

For the moment, PhysX is only being utilized in less than a handful of titles.

So I would not use the PhysX card in the Dell as a major selling point at the moment in time.

The sager is faster but Ii am not brave enough to spend 4,000 on a company I had never heard of untill a couple of months ago .I have never had issue swith dell not honorring warrenty .So I would rather go with company I know than get an extra 10 04 20 percetn performance

    I understand your words.

I would do the same... but after doing Business Marketing for a while now... branding and brand loyalty are very psychological... and subjective.

Sager will probably not go out of business anytime soon, because they are not just a brand that sells notebooks, they are the largest distributor of Clevo notebook barebones in North America... many smaller companies rely on them to get their systems to re-brand and re-sell.

Same goes for the other two Clevo distributors, Pro-Star and Eurocom.

They are the direct link to Clevo and everyone else (99% of the time) has to go through these distributors to get the systems and information.

I wrote the Clevo Guide in hopes to inform those out there that these boutique brands are here, and are waiting to help the next customer that is willing to give them a chance... which many have and are extremely satisfied. They have found that small companies are not over extended to be able to give amazing service/support with short turn-around time.

So if you are happy, then another person's opinion should not matter. :)

I am just here to inform, learn, and understand more.

P.S. I like bang for the buck stuff... since I do so much research to uncover the truth and make new discoveries.

I've owned Dell's.............the only good one I owned was a Inspiron 8200 / Precision M50. Every one after that may be faster, but the build quality has suffered - remember the inspiron 5150 anyone??

The Inspiron 8200 back in 2002 was one of the fastest laptops you could buy anywhere, but over the years Dell have lost ground when it comes to enthusiast-grade laptops - hence the reason they acquired Alienware, which coincidentally was a Clevo reseller!

And let's face it - the only reason why Alienware use Arima as a platform for their machines is because the company used to sell the very same machines that came from places like Sager / Xotic / Eurocomm / Falcon NW - but for $1000 extra! (The Alienware Area51-M7700 is a Clevo D900T and the Alienware Aurora-M7700 is a Clevo D900K)

I own a D900T - and to prove that Alienware rebrands Clevo laptops - I bought an Alienware Screen lid (with the Alien head and blue LED eyes) - and retrofitted it to my D900T - so now it looks as though I own an Alienware :)

Didn't cost me as much either! ($100 for the lid and $10 for a can of Ford Imperial Blue metallic, which is the closest color to Conspiracy Blue)

Not really on topic but I just wanted to take a second to say thanks, Gophin. Those of us looking for a new laptop very much appreciate the effort taken by you and others to inform the otherwise uninformed consumer when it comes to the Sager/Clevo brand. I'll be the first in my small circle of gaming friends to break out of the Dell mold and it should be fun to see how my 5792 stacks up against the M1710 and others in the group. Measurements are one thing but the proof will be in the pudding come gaming night. :D

I've owned a dell since xps gen 1, dell 9300, and the xps m1710, not really for the brand name but because of the excellent price to performance ratio. Their warranty has also been amazing to me. However recently their absurd prices on their xps m1730 has got me shopping for other brand. Unfortunately warranty has always been a big thing for me and I dont know how other warranties stack up to dells.

The company I went with (Xoticpc) seemed like they had a damn good warranty. 3 year labor, 1 year parts, 24/7 toll free phone support for free, extra time for more money, etc. I've spoken directly to them (Justin) quite a lot with questions on my order, and he always got back to me extremely quickly. Even went out of his way to help me on the weekend regarding my shipment, something they normally do only on business days.

Haven't received the laptop yet, will on Wednesday, but with a practically pristine reseller rating on Xotic, I would recommend them to any of my friends and family.

I'll post on Wednesday regarding my NP9262 when I get it :D
