I just got my Sager np8662 yesterday and I am very happy.

Loaded Windows 7 64 and it is running great. The driver disk that came with it was useless and didn't even load for Windows 7 so I had to manually load all the drivers.. no problems

The only thing is my hard drive every once in a while makes a click/knocking sound. Don't know if this is normal or a sign of a bad HD.

Did some benchmarks and got an over all score of 9998 which seems ok, the cpu test of 3DMARK06 ran at o-1 fps whick i think killed my score.

Other than that I am happy with the way it looks and feels and look forward to playing some Warhammer on her....

Are the HDD a Seagate? If so, its normal, but still, a bad sign.

0-1 FPS on the CPU part are normal.

my seagate 7200.4 makes clicking sound too. its tolerable compared to hitachi, not so to samsung XD but i'm still wondering if it holds in place coz i only saw one bracket holding it up when i installed. other than that thought, i'm neutral with the sound.

I was not thinking when I did the 3d06 and forgot to monitor the temps. But I will say this ambient temp right now is at 22c +- and my cpu temps are at 25c !!! gpu is at 38c.

The haven't heard the HD noise in a while so not to worried about that ether...

Now if i can figure out this finger print reader...

I only needed to manually install one driver when I installed Windows 7 X64. Were you not connected to the internet during installation?

Yes I was connected , but there were drivers that were not automatically installed...

So is this Seagate hard drive just naturally noisy? Mine is still making noises and every once in a while i will hear a beep....

i'm using a WDC in mine doesn't make any noise and temps is pretty good aswell

i'll post some temps when laptop was up here
    Core #0 31° C
    Core #1 35° C
    GPU 47° C
    HDD 50° C

the HDD can reach up to like 57° C.
Is it normal that the temps between core 0 and 1 difference with 3-4° C?
And since ive been reading about people getting a 9800M instead of 260M how can u be sure it has a 260M in it through GPU-Z? I see it has like 16 ROPs...

    Thx.

The temperature difference is perfectly fine sounds about right and its pretty cool. Well my guess is if you check how many shaders it has through gpu-z,, 112 vs 96. Bit toasty for a HD in my opinion, but if its working fine then whatever.

I get the same with a NP9850, I have heard my other systems do it occasionally, but not nearly as often as this one. Seems to me to be more frequent in Vista, than it is in Windows 7 though.
