I heard about this laptop in another thread and it said it had 9800M GTX SLI PLUS a Desktop Quad brocessor. However, when I try to search it I can't find it anywhere.Has Sager dropped this laptop?

They have not dropped it......exactly. It has grown into the current incarnation known as the 9280 which has a desktop i7 CPU and a single GTX 280M (no more SLi, the second MXM slot does even exist in it)

So, in a way the 9262 is no longer available it seems but, it's new big brother is out. If you need......well, nobody needs Sli....if you really want Sli, then the 9850 is your answer but it uses a mobile CPU.

So, in short; If you demand more CPU power > 9280

If you require more GPU power > 9850

Argh, thats just terrible.Sager shouldnt have killed the np9262...from the sounds of it had a perfect balance of CPU and GPU power.

Sager really screwed up this time.

Hey Panzer... from the looks of it you are obviously posting about the higher poer laptops looking for your best fit... why don't you go the the "which Notebook should I" Discussion page and fill out the FAQ.. then depending on you wants, needs and budget we can help decide!

I think some board membres have 2-3 of them for sale on the forums. Angelvoices especially has a nice setup for sale with the SLI 9800GTXs.

Gathering from what he is looking for and from what he researched he doesnt need to go there. This is the right place.

Sager didn't have much choice in the matter as, from what I understand, Clevo decided to stop making the barebones on which the NP9262 is built. It would be Clevo, not Sager that did the screwing this time.

how do avadirect and others still sell them? Clevo shouldn't have killed it either... just some motherboard revisions like new X58 chipset and socket 1366 and dual mxm 3.0b... 9263.

Clevo split their customer base into professional and gamers, which was a bad idea imo. They should have stuck with the Q9650 or high xenon, and done a mobo revision to support mxm 3.0. This would have been enough for both types of people, while still providing the worlds most powerful notebook. Unfortunately they didn't, but you can still find 9262's out there, they're just harder to find. It's an amazing notebook btw.

Dang, configured at AVADirect(thx for the link purlpo) and got:

    9800M GTX SLI
    320 GB HDD
    4 GB RAM
    X3360 Quad 2.83

    All for around $3300

I would say thats really good.I just may get this. The only thing is that it uses slightly older tech, but for the price it certain rapes any other laptop. Will the slightly older tech kill me in the future or will it be adequate enough? The 9800M GTX SLI are great plus I can get an awesome quad thats still in my price range.

Edit:I guess its not using slightly older tech, the only thing that needs an upgrade is the RAM to 1066 MHz DDR3 over the current 800 MHz DDR2 and I think its good to go.

Dont see why Clevo would kill this machine, they would have certainly made alot of money of this laptop for the price/performance ratio.
