Hi. Long time reader and browser of the forums to diagnose various issues and find the real deal on CLEVO laptops.

I have a Sager NP5793 which has recently began to BSOD with the error message of hardware failure then resets. This however only happens when the GPU is being used heavily (F@H / Video Games) and when the computer is on A/C power. When the computer is on the battery it runs fine with no issues. I have tried virtually every series of Nvidia official 8800m GTX drivers with no results as well as multiple sound card drivers.

The interesting part is how the computer works fine on battery power. But the second the A/C adapter is plugged in the computer screen artifacts with multiple purple boxes, BSOD's then crashes immediately. So I really believe the issue is between the PSU on the Motherboard, the A/C PSU unit, and possibly the GPU. Just wondering if I could get others thoughts on it.

Any thoughts or additional troubleshooting ideas?

Try reseating your GPU. Also, what OS are you running, and what was the last GPU driver version you used on your machine?

I see you mentioned Folding@home. I know those guys like to push their machines to the limit. Is your 8800M GTX overclocked?

After further testing, the reseating of the GPU now blue screens and locks up the computer with A/C power on during boot up. Howerver, computer still works fine on just battery power.

Maybe its an AC adapter issue... could be your motherboard then... uh oh?
