Hi all, I am very sorry if this question has been touched on before but my research skills have hit a wall here. I apologize in advance if I have clogged up the forum with an uneccessary thread.

I am very interested in purchasing a LP171WU1-TLA2 in a glossy finish to replace the cracked screen in my Sager NP5797/Clevo M570ETU. I hear it is one of the best CCFL screens available at a good price. I saw in another post that Soviet Sunrise has installed this very same screen in his NP5797. However, I am concerned that it may be incompatible with my laptop. My computer was originally ordered with a WSXGA+ LP171WE2 TLA3 and nearly every distributor I visit says that this type of upgrade should not be done but I fail to see why not. I hope this is not true because I would like to have the WUXGA screen instead. If this is true then is there any kind of work-around that can be done? The reasons why it should not be done have not been very forthcoming...

This forum has thus far been very informative and I am extremely grate I ran across it. The M570 cooling modifications post was excellent, and if I'm not mistaken it may have been this forum that convinced me to purchase a Sager in the first place... Thanks all.

Actually, the best one is the LP171WU3-TLa2 / tl a3.

I have tested a LP171WU3-TLb3 but returned it due to having 3 white pixels. From what I've read, the LP171WU LCDs are known to develop dead/stuck pixels, I wouldn't advise you to buy one unless you can get it with a no-dead pixel guarantee.

Thank you for the advice on what screen is the current high end model. Allot of the posts I have read on this topic were pretty old. However, my concern is in going from a WSXGA+ screen to a WUXGA one. I have read in many places that this cannot be done, but I have also seen posts where it has been done before, though usually in Dell Inspiron laptops. I am trying to find out if there is any issue with doing this type of upgrade with a Clevo M570ETU, and if there is what needs to be done to remedy it?

From what I can tell the brand, backlighting, and connections are all the same, the only difference being the native resolution. I cannot fathom why I would not be able to do a direct replacement retaining my old inverter...

Another quick question, since all I get is advertisements when I try and research this with google... What is the best WSXGA+ screen available for mt Sager? The picture was pretty good on my other one but the colors seemed a little off and it was pretty dim. I swear search engines are becoming practically worthless...

i have gone through NUMEROUS wu panels without any issues at all. just buy it from a reliable source thats all. the tla2 and tla3 are among the best ccfl screens out there hands down

and it will work fine in your system also as long as you have a ccfl based screen now. i used to resell screens trust me there are no major issues with that model panel

Thanks, zfactor that is what I was hoping to hear. Though I am starting to doubt that a WU panel is the right thing for me. I like to play games, watch movies, and do some scripting in my spare time. Really I use it for everything it can do so I want a multi-purpose screen. No need to start another WUXGA vs WSXGA discussion though, as it seems to have been beat into redundancy.

Do you have any recommendations for a WSXGA+ screen? I am pretty thorough when I go about doing something and want to be able to really sit down and hammer this thing out before I commit to a purchase. I truly appreciate your help, because all I can seem to get out of Google is people selling screens instead of reviews of them...

Any recommendations on a good WSXGA+ panel would still be greatly appreciated, I am still unsuccessful in finding any reviews for this type of screen...
