I can't seem to find anything on this model and it appears to be their high end model. Any thoughts on it? Dual Radeon HD 6970's?

There is a fair bit of information on the tech specs for it. The np7282 is an updated np7280, which is a synonym for the clevo x7200.

    Clevo site:

    CLEVO - Products

Two random Clevo/Sager resellers (there are many more):

    MYTHLOGIC :: Configure Your System

Sager NP7282 Custom Laptop (Built on the Clevo X7200)

Resellers tend to rebrand Clevo's model name for one of their own model names, but it is the same thing :)

    (Edit):

If you need a list of resellers, check the sticky for this sub-forum out, if you haven't already :

    Hello,

Clevo produces the cases, the motherboard and the video card. The rest is put in by resellers. The resellers usually change the name Clevo uses.

Thank you for the information, I actually found some after i posted this (of course) my biggest concern at the moment is i read that the Radeons are going to be phased out? What exactly does that mean? Should i be concerned? What should be my concerns, etc.

Well AMD 6970M is a great "bang for the buck" option ...

You can still choose NVIDIA 485M but its quite expensive . While NVIDIA 560M performance is far behind the other two

Right, I'm tempted to upgrade to dual NVIDIA cards because real concerned about the Radeons. The last time i bought a laptop i bought one that apparently got discontinued no more than a month after i bought it (m15x not M15x)

anything to do with computers is old after 6 months as there will always be upgrades of chassis and graphics cards no matter when you buy.

I wouldn´t recommend the Crossfire, though or "because" I have them...
Many, many problems and Black screeens, or Bluescreens caused by the ati drivers.
Not on ALL applications, but on quite a few.
In fact I ordered me the GTX 485m in SLI to change the cards... just waiting for my new heatsinks, then I go...
Don´t get me wrong: IF they work correct, they are great. (the recently released "Dirt 3" works great without problems, for example) But if you got a game and "once again" you get problems, it ain´t that funny any more... :(

    Hey,

Yea there are always choices and new things coming down the pike.

I can tell you we still have 6970m's that we can put in. Yes the 580m's will be real soon now, and the 560m's are already out.

The laptop its self, if we had to guess (Please note this is a guess) will be phased out at the end of the year when the X79 chipset comes out and the socket 2011 desktop processors come out. However, even then a x7200 based laptop will be NO slouch by any means, its a desktop you can carry around =)

Does anyone know the reasoning behind Clevo not making regular desktop CPU motherboards for their laptops, and only making it for high-priced 95W E-series CPUs?

Is it because an i5-2500k would totally decimate any laptop out there, and cost less to boot, so Clevo is playing it safe? Just curious...

Thats what the x79 version of the x7200 laptop will do, be SNB desktop processors, but on the 2011 socket. Their general feeling with the desktop processor laptops is its not very high volume, and so they only make the one that will be THE TOP of the line VERY TOP of the line when they do.

Try to find a reseller that still offers the 6970m, mythlogic still does. Or you SLI 560m but I don't think that's really a great route either. Looks like you are stuck in the same boat as several of us who planned on ordering 6970m equipped sagers, but are now unsure of what to do. If you definitely can't swing SLI 485 or 580s I'd probably hold off on buying if possible or reconsider the laptop you want.

Yes CrossfireX AMD 6970M's are available if you do not mind getting a non Sager branded Clevo x7200 R2. :)

Aafolden, you may be misunderstanding what you're being told..

The non-Sager branded Clevo notebooks sold by other resellers, not Sager, are just as good if not better than the notebooks bought directly from Sager. Several resellers use he highest end parts and provide better warranties and support that Sager does directly. Using a reseller like Mythlogic you can still get the video card you want with even better service.

Choosing a reseller isn't like choosing a generic knockoff.

General feeling, I think, because very few have tried. Give me an i5-2500 for cheaper than a 2630 and I don't see what's not to like.

I guess the heat...we'll see in a few years.?

The S3 sleep mode on desktop CPUs is less power-saving. Sleep will drain yuh battery. As you can see in my sig, I know firsthand.
Also, the CPU doesn't downclock as much, and will draw more power idling than the others (again, tried & tested). Your battery life will suck badly. Heat isn't really an issue, these cards are built to take heat. It's not that it's a bad thing to put in a laptop exactly, there are many uses for it, but it's not really feasible to put in a CPU that can't smoke the living daylights out of all other mobile CPUs on the market. Because the mobile ones will just work better on the whole, as they're designed to be mobile.
