Hello, I am currently looking at replacing my aging NP8130 with either a NP8255 or NP8265 but having troubles telling the differences in the models. Does the NP8255 have a Haswell in it? Just trying to figure out the reason for the price difference in the 2 models.

    Thanks in advance!

They do both use Haswell, the main difference is just the chassis. The 8255 has more lights on it making it more of a gamers look, the 8265 lacks those lights so its more professional looking but it still comes with the backlit keyboard. The 8255 also has a second hard drive bay which will fit a SSD (7mm).

Great thanks for the info Hutsady. Can you tell me does the 8265 also have the illuminated touchpad or is it just the keyboard only?

Only keyboard, only the 8255 has the illuminated touxhpad (which can now be turned off by itself).

Just to add there is also a 500gig 7mm hyrid drive from seagate you can use in the 7mm slot too.
