Well I ordered the NP8660, finalizing the payment and I cannot wait to get it hopefully next week or maybe the week after. I have been itching for a good laptop for sometime. I needed one that does school work since I am going for my MBA. I am also a gamer and wanted to make sure that I have good laptop that I can game on. Based on the advice here and my budget I went with the glossy screen. I cant wait to get it and do some playing so I can update everyone here.
-
congrats on the order.
tell us when you get it. -
lol although this topic is useless right now, I know exactly how you feel because Im waiting on mine to arrive too. I ordered mine monday @ xoticpc, so I hope they can ship it this week. Where and when did you order yours?
-
congrats to you both. you wont be dissapointed.
-
I ordered from xoticpc as well. I remember working with Justin when i was looking last year and couldn't get it. So I am excited to finally get a good one.
-
There's maybe new graphics cards coming out soon. I'd wait a few weeks if I could.
-
-
Well I got the news this morning. The Laptop I ordered on Friday shipped last night!!!! Woohoo!!!!!!!!!!!
Of course I went cheap on shipping and now I have to wait until Monday for it to deliver :0 -
we'll be np8660 buds although I think your cpu is better than mine :/
Also on UPS it says signature required, Im alittle iffy about this because I may not be home due to some afternoon classes...what happens if no one is available at home?? Did anyone remember signing some papers when your laptop arrived from xoticpc? -

Yes...Next week will be quite a bit of fun for both of us!!!!
I was worried about the signature thing so I'm having mine delivered to my work address. I'll let the shipping dept bring it up to me. Though I did just find out that my boss is flying in to visit on monday so I won't be able to open it until I get home. -
is the np8660 coming w/ the new gpu? Any word if it will be the same price?
-
Regardless I will finish the order of mine tomorrow. Hopefully get it soon, I am way to excited lol
-
good Luck Mett! we're eager to hear how things go!
-
Same here, it will nice to not be tied down to gaming on a desktop. I can grab a bottle of macallan and sit on the deck and enjoy some nice gaming/homework.
-
-
That's why i got an extra cord that way I should always have one handy!
Is it Monday yet....why oh why did I chose the cheap ground shipping???? -
I am going to order the zalman laptop cooler as well and possibly a laptop gamers desk to make it even easier. I am stoked.
-
Hah yeah were all stoked especially having to wait on Monday...I also plan on getting the NC2000 model of the zalman cooler..
Id also like to add that my laptop came from California, sooo I guess mine came straight from Sager company instead of xoticpc (which I believe is in Nebraska?). Where did your shipment start at WebRender? -
zalman laptop cooler???? laptop gamers desk?????
Please educate me.Sounds like there are more toys that I can pick up????
-
My Laptop came from California as well (BALDWIN PARK, CA, US). I didn't realize that's where Sager was located. PNB is out of Navada so I guess I should have made the connection. ...very interesting to see how the process works.
-
-
Ah I see...well I have a bad feeling Im going to miss it since most of the time UPS comes around 11a-2p and ill be in school! I actually do not mind picking it up as it is around 5miles away from my place. So im going to try my best to get it on monday..
-
Well now...that does look like a must have! Thanks for he link!
-
np I know that both of them should make having a laptop nice and easy
-
Indeed, it's feels good to be getting a laptop I feel can be used with items like these. All reports are that between the cooling and the frame this is one well built machine.
My current laptop (using it right now) is an Acer Travelmate 8204, mighty powerful 3 years ago but the frame flexes a lot and it gets so hot I have to use three fans to keep it from melting while gaming. I kid you not when I tell you that my brother in law had to move to the other side of the table one night because the exhaust from my laptop was more than he could stand. We stuck a meat thermometer next to the exhaust port and it held study at 185 degrees. -
).
-
I ordered mine on Sunday with 3-day shipping - can't wait to receive it!! I work at home, so thankfully I won't have to worry about not being around to sign for it. In the meantime, I'm going to check out the laptop coolers...give me something to do instead of constantly checking for Phase updates

SO the NP8660 is delayed, the 5797 now offers the new video card. I am not sure on a 17" but its roughly the same price so I was wondering if I should just preorder the 5797. I cant afford the high end processor and will probably have to get the 2.53 ghz so I was looking for some advice.
-
You mean the NP8660 with the new video card? Since the 15.4 inch screen was a must for me, no other sizes were even an option. If it were me, I'd stay the course and go with the current NP8660...but I may not be understanding the question properly.
-
Well, there's three options I see, and they all require patience.
1. Wait for the NP8660 anyway.
2. Go ahead and preorder the 5797. If 17" doesn't bother you, I'd do this.
3. Still waiting for the NP8660, but waiting even a bit longer, to see if the GTX 260M rumors are true.
Me personally, I'd choose 2 or 3, because both video cards will outperform the 9800M GTS by quite a bit. -
I have went and looked at a 17" again at best buy and the size doesnt bother me. I thought it was a lot bigger than it was.
-
patience will always reward you unless of course the rumors are false about the 260M,then youll just be waiting forever.. Anyways, if you are a big gamer and demand the best graphics available, by all means I would recommend the 5797.
I believe, from what I've read, 9800GTS < 9800GTX < 260M < 280M < ATI 4870 (which may also be in the 5797).
The 9800GTS is more than I need -
I play a ton of games on my desktop. With me getting a laptop I am actually giving it over to my wife for her to game with. I enjoy a lot of the FPS and EQ2 as well. I figure the 5797 will future proof me for a bit.
-
Then I did misunderstand. So there is a backlog of NP8660 machines in general and not just the rumored new vid card. I did not know that. Is this delay from one vendor only or accross the board?
-
I believe it is directly from sager and across all vendors. It happened at a great time, I honestly think I will enjoy the 5797 a lot more
