As the title states I cant get my HDMI out from my laptop (in sig) to send audio through the HDMI cable to either of my tv's.

Anyone know a setting that im just overlooking or is it somethiing else. I really do need a fix for this pretty soon as I have a presentation to give using Powerpoint and the monitors on campus use HDMI.

I think you have to set your Audio Device to HDMI output when you want audio to stream through the HDMI.

Gophn has it exactly right. Go into your Control Panel's classic view, click on "Sound," and select HDMI Output under the playback options. Once that's done, you should have full sound through HDMI.

Yeah Im not seeing an HDMI output setting.

This is what my sound output looks like:

And when I set that as Default, their still is no sound through the cable.

Is their something missing from my sound control panel?

Yes, there is something missing from your sound control panel. Have you installed all drivers for Windows 7 from Sager's website? Check your Device Manager under Sound, Video, and Game Controllers and tell us if there is an HDMI entry there. Please also mention if there is anything showing up under "Other Devices."

Yeah their is nothing anywhere, under any sub menu, about HDMI.

I installed every driver from the Sager website, but I guess i could do it another round.

What driver exactly do I need to download for the HDMI, is it an sound driver or chipset driver?

I'm actually not certain which driver contains the HDMI instructions, but I believe it is contained in either the chipset or video driver.

Was there an "Other Devices" heading, and if so, what devices were listed beneath it?

I use the "Realtek Digital Output" device in the picture for my HDMI sound. You may have to specify which audio device to use from within the program.

No their wasn't an other devices, which makes me think that I have all the right drivers installed for the HDMI, but it's just not working.

Yes I have the "Realtek Digital Output" in my Sound settings. How do I get the HDMI sound to go through that setting? When I enable it as the default sound, I still get no sound through the HDMI cable.

On my np5796, the HDMI audio only worked with certain nvidia drivers. Are you using a driver that supports your video card without a modded inf file?

Yeah actually I am, I will try some different drivers without the .inf needed and see if this fixes the problem.

I guess the ones from nVidia.com would be a good place to start?

What program are you trying to use to output the HDMI audio? You may have to re-launch it after setting the digital output as default, or you may have to check the program's settings to see which audio device it is using.

Actually, I would suggest using the drivers on Sager's support site. The latest 64-bit driver is located here.

    Update:

Installing the newest nVidia drivers from Sager fixed the audio issues, and they are very good drivers as well. 187.62
