Fingers crossed this is in the right spot...

I'm having a problem with the above-mentioned components on my laptop. I really hope someone can help me out. I have a Sager NP6852 with an Intel Core i7-7700HQ CPU @ 2.80 GHz, 8 GB of RAM and it's running Windows 10 Home version 1903.

First of all, I wiped down my laptop today (first the screen with window cleaner and then the keyboard and mouse with alcohol) but it was turned off and I know better than to soak the thing.

After that, I started it up and everything seemed fine. I then opened Firefox and it installed the most recent update. After the update installed, I kept getting this pop-up for "Toggle Keys" or something. I kept pressing "no". Then I started having problems with the numeric keypad. It won't type in all the numbers, just some and a few act like the arrow keys. Not only that, but they're making random computer sounds. If I keep pressing a number like umpteen times it sometimes will then type it.

So of course, I searched Google, but then my touchpad buttons stopped working! I can still left-click on things using the pad, but the buttons are unresponsive. But not all the time. They'll start working and then stop abruptly. I discovered if I hold down the cntl button, let go and then click it works most of the time. It sometimes takes a few tries.

And the last problem I'm having is that when I minimize windows, sometimes I can't get them to open again. It seems to happen when the touchpad goes out. I hover over them and the preview of the window just flashes. Now, as I was typing this out (using the Firefox browser) my little pop-ups for Grammarly are also flashing when the mouse malfunctions.

I messed with accessibility settings, typing, keyboard, and touchpad settings after reading some articles on how to fix similar issues, but nothing is working! I also tried updating the drivers, but my computer says they're all up to date. I rollbacked the Synaptics driver, but that didn't work and now Windows is saying that's up to date (even though it was just rolled back). I uninstalled the Windows update that occurred on the same day as the problems began, but no luck. There's also a security update that took place, but Windows won't let me uninstall that one.

If anyone knows what's causing this and how to fix it I'd be forever grateful. Otherwise, I'm looking at a whole Windows Refresh, which would mean installing all my programs, fonts, add-ons, and all the other things that would be an absolute, time-consuming pain. My suspicion would be the most recent Firefox update did this because that's when I noticed it. But I have no idea what to do about that or how to roll-back to an earlier version. I've always used Firefox and have never had an issue like this so I really don't know. I can't afford ANYTHING fyi (new laptop, external drives, ect.) and my warranty has expired. So sending it back or buying anything to fix this thing is not really an option right now.

Again, any help would be extremely appreciated! PLEASE HELP ME.

    Hy

Before reinsatlling all maibe it would be a good ideea to run a Linux (or Windows) Bootable from a USB stick and check if all your issues are apearing also in that enviroment.
If you see the same problems with keyboard and touchpad I think you mistakenly soaked some parts from your keyboard.
You can try after that to use some vaccum cleaner to dry it.
If that's not helping either you need a new keyboard installed.

Another good option would be to connect an external USB keyboard and mouse and disable from Device Manager the onboard keyboard and touchpad.

    Hope this was helpfull!

I'd take the keyboard out and check nothing seeped through.

Thank you both for helping me out with this.

Alex - Please forgive my ignorance, but I'm not sure what you mean. Would that be the same as creating an image backup? Because I tried that. Unfortunately, I only have a USB drive that only hols 128GB. It isn't large enough for that :(

Meaker - I can't take another laptop apart. I won't risk it now. I've done it successfully in the past, but I can't risk it until I have a backup which isn't going to happen anytime soon. But I replayed what I did in my head. I didn't spray the keys directly. I sprayed a paper towel LIGHTLY and then wiped it off. I really can't fathom anything getting in there.

I just think it's odd that this "Toggle Key" issue arises and that's when the problems began. I did a system restore and used the Windows "Repair PC" at start-up and while the repair process did say it uninstalled some updates (like it found issues) it didn't help :( Do you guys think it's possible that the Firefox update would've triggered this? Also, does anyone know where I can get the most recent Synaptics and keyboard drivers for this thing? I've searched and couldn't find anything past 2017.

    Hello again

Search 'Bootable Linux' or 'Bootabla Windows 10' and you will find a tool named 'RUFUS' which can do that very fast and painless. You need a 8Gb USB stick and an internet connection. Don't be afraid is a simple process.
I don't think is about the updates, I believe it's about the 'cleaning'.
    Hope it helps.

Ok, now my down arrow has stopped working abruptly. The up one still works and I can scroll down using the 2 on the numeric keypad...

I will download RUFUS and reformat the USB stick. Could you please tell me the next steps?

    Please disregard my previous post.

So, I did download RUFUS and I also searched for "Bootable Windows 10". It brought me to a Microsoft page and some related articles that I read. I didn't download the .iso image because I wasn't sure what to do exactly. I followed a guide that said first download the Media Creation Tool or something like that. So I did and followed the rest of the steps in the guide. It didn't bring up using RUFUS though, but it seems it did the same thing? Now I have a USB flash drive with Windows 10 ver.1903 on it. I guess I should start up the laptop from the drive and it will install this version of Windows and uninstall the other one along with the crap? Is this how it works? I'm sorry for being so stupid :( But my current version of Windows is 1903. But you believe this would be like a 'clean' installation or something?

I would like you to confirm if this is what I should do, please, but I have some questions as well. If you don't mind that is.

First of all, will doing this erase all my personal files and installed programs? If it does that's a problem because I only have 1 large enough USB drive and it's the one that is currently holding the copy of WIndows 10. Could I also place my files on there?

Also, I would have to update all the other drivers on my laptop, right? Or would they stay updated to their most current versions?

There was also an option on the Media Tool. It was 'Upgrade PC'. Does that do the same thing? Would that be a better option?
