Very nice! My 3dmark11 score went from P4418 to P4580 on my gtx580m!!

    That's about a 4% boost methinks... ;)

    3Dmark11 score on my NP5165 (555m) went from P1354 to P1385! :D
Only a 2% increase, but hey, everything helps! Hoping to see P1400 when the next drivers are out.

Installed this yesterday. Haven't run any benchmarks, but I got a new shiny "Enable 3D Vision" button. I guess even though I don't have a 3D screen on my laptop, if I connect to an external 3D monitor using an HDMI cable I could run 3D Vision on that. Cool.

I found one issue. Waking from sleep mode causes my screen to flash incessantly and I have to shut down by holding the power button to get out of it.

    Anyone else seeing that?

Anyone have the screen flash black and say the driver recovered or whatever? I had it happen on my other np8150 running the first 280's (thats getting returned as was cross shipped a new one for other reasons) and now this new one it just happened yesterday on me running these beta drivers and i decided to reboot right after and the laptop just turned off on the windows loading screen.

Booted right back up fine but I decided to go to 175.50 drivers now. I seen a post on nvidia forum about people having issues but am shocked not to many here as most people always jump to new GPU drivers in hopes of performance increase.

That issue seems common on Beta drivers, but very rare in the WHQL versions. I'd say if you had no trouble after switching back to just stick with your older set. Beta is nice for performance bumps, but usually at the cost of stability.

I had the issue on the 280 set that is WHQL on my other NP8150... This replacement laptop I decided to try the beta ones in hopes they wouldnt but it also did the same.

I am now on 275.5 beta as the only other drivers that support this card are the older 168/9 series drivers which are also the first for this card so don't perform the best.

I just hope others have the issue (damn that sounds bad to hope haha) but that way I know for sure its drivers and nvidia gets them fixed. I cant imagine getting multiple laptops with bad GPU and I really doubt it as I can run benchies few times in a row without any issues.

I've not encountered this problem with the 280 WHQL set and I have almost an identical set up to you. Perhaps it is another application that you have running in the background that is affecting your drivers.

Try running msconfig (just click start button and type msconfig) - click on the startup tab, go through the list and disable anything that isn't:
THXfg64 (THX), Synaptics Pointing Device (Touchpad), Realtek HD Audio (Sound), USB 3.0 Driver (USB)

See if that has any affect :)

Its a clean windows install with nothing on it but drivers and office.

The only thing in common on both driver errors are that I had Firefox opened and minimized, and firefox does hardware acceleration of graphics.

I think some people feel its an issue with the clock speed jumping around. Some blame firefox, some blame flash player, some blame nvidia and some all 3 lol

I only had it happen once on each laptop. If you run dual monitors also it probably wont happen because on dual monitors GPU is always running at max clock and can not downclock. I did have that on other laptop at one point so prob why it didn't do it for so long because I stopped using second monitor for a while.

    Installation question:

New extremely happy owner of the Sager 8130 with the GTX 560M card. But unfortunately I am a driver n00b having switched over from Macbook Pro. Currently, I have the 280.26 driver installed, however, when trying to play the Battlefield 3 Beta this weekend I would get a driver error saying to get this new 285.27 driver. The game would still run with the 280.26 driver, but I could not go full screen or adjust any of the video settings. When I attempted to install the 285.27 driver I would get this error during the system check part of the installation process:

"NVIDIA installer cannot continue. This graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware."

Is there a trick to installing this and other beta drivers (n00b steps)? Thank you in advance for your help.

    System specs: Sager 8130, i7-2760QM, GTX 560M, 8GB 1600MHz Ram, 120GB Intel 510 SSD, Bigfoot Net Killer

this is the old way that some dont use anymore but i always use this and have had no problems so why change to the auto detect.

firstly you need to download driver cleaner pro or driver sweeper HERE
i also use cc cleaner HERE the free version is fine.

    then follow these steps:
hope that helps. let us know how you get on.

    Hi MrDJ,

Thanks for your quick response. I installed Driver Sweeper and went through the steps you quoted, but unfortunately I still get the same error message when trying to install the 285.27 driver. I have double checked to make sure no NVIDA files are remaining. I have gone back to download and try to install the former 280.26 drivers and am now getting the same error from the NVIDA installer.

Now I am in the process of trying to download the driver from the Sager site. Hopefully this will work...

I cringe even typing this, but I was downloading the desktop driver. Once I used the notebook driver I had no issues (as one would expect). Thank you for pointing out what may be obvious to most but was not to me.

dont worry mate, as long as its working now. we all had to start at the beginning once. 5 years ago i knew didly squat about computers and a lot of the time learned by my mistakes. this forum and its members have helped me out many times so thats why i stick around to help others out.
