i guess we have to start a request because Sager Co. and Clevo Co. don't release an official driver and we experimenting issues with the current ones please note on Clevo's website the latest 470m driver can't be downloaded i know is not the latest Nvidia driver but is different of what sager is offering

And on Sager's website they just have the old one

always best to go direct to the source at Nvidia HERE even though their latest is back in october.
but there has been chat that the drivers wont load on some peoples machines and they have had to modify the inf file.

A new year and a NEW official driver from nVidia through Clevo. It is the nVIDIA GTX485M VGA driver for Windows 7 64-bit (265.77). It should work well with the 470M and 480M. I am using it right now on the 480M's... :)

So Nvidia is going to go ahead and bother releasing the GPU as a 485M after they've already started releasing 500M series GPUs?

I tried 265.89. It sure works, but I am not sure if it is something wrong with me or the driver, or is it supposed to be this way. But after gaming for a while, all 3 clocks (core, shader, mem) would just stay at max while GPU usage is is like 1%. It would stuck this way forever until I restart my computer.

I am not sure if this happens with the stock drivers. I will try it out. Meanwhile, does anyone else experience this?

Neol, trust me, brightness control is the least of your worries. You could always adjust brightness before the windows screen (at the "Sager" screen). How often do you adjust it??

Yes, FN + F8/F9 works at the Sager screen and the bios screen. In fact, it works at all startup screens until it gets into the windows loading screen. You know the screen where 4 dots merges into the windows logo... ah you know what I mean. Because that is where the nvidia 26x.xx driver kicks in as opposed to the sager bios driver.

So really, brightness is not a big problem unless you need to adjust it on the go depending on application.

For me, having all the clocks constantly stuck at max after some gaming is a bigger problem. The weird thing is, after I restart the computer, it would be fine. The clocks would adjust itself according to usage. Then after some random amount of time and usage, all clocks would be stuck at max even when gpu usage is a constant 1~2%.

^^ Two common Nvidia driver glitches are the compromised PowerMizer and brightness control. Did you try this driver?

Wait so, it is powerMizer that causes the clocks to be stuck to max? Let me give it a try.

People people chill. Only official oem and nvidia MOBILE drivers are guaranteed to have brightness control and powermizer. Most drivers from the laptopvideo2go site are desktop drivers that have a modded inf to add compatibility for mobile cards therefore in most cases brightness control and clock downs won't work. However, the benefits of using new desktop drivers is that there will be optimizations etc because they are new and some will yield better benchmark results. Now if you can overlook these problems I recommend 265.90 quadro ones from lv2g because they are absolute beauties for load times and performance plus powermizer works.

    Thx for all the input!

@Speedy G: So, the driver hemi posted is 265.77. you say 265.77 has working powermizer as well as brightness control?

@widezu69: You recommend 265.90? You confirm this one also has working powermizer?

hum.. which one should I try?

@Phinagle: who knows maybe IT IS 485m and the 470 gonna be rereleased as a new member in the 5xx series, anyway we will know for sure when we see the new card specs.

@Iccup I have a 260m and the GPU clocks down on idle so its fine. I tested the Clevo ones (modded by myself for the 260m) and yes they are stable but the 265.90's have batter performance as well as much improved load times (GTA IV takes about 20 secs in total down from over a minute. Black Ops maps under 1- seconds down from half a minute. Witchcraft really!

Thx widezu! I tried 265.90 and I think so far it has downclocked correctly. Will monitor for a few more days!
