This weekend I've tried to figure out if my 9800M GTX is defective. So I've put the card in one of my friend's M860TU. His original card is a 9600M GT.

Upon flashing the VBIOS of my 9800M GTX while it was in the M860TU I've noticed something very interesting. The subsystem reported by nvflash was not the one I was used to.

On my M570TU the subsystem is always reported as 0481. But in the M860TU it is reported as 0860. So my conclusion is that the subsystem ID has nothing to do with the video card but with something else within the laptop, probably the motherboard.

Here is a picture of flashing the vBIOS of the 9800M GTX while in the M860TU:

I remember this one when I used to flash the 8800M on my 5793, you have to add something else in your command to avoid the hardware ID error.
    What command did you type?

Well the flash went through without a problem nvflash -4 -5 -6 xxx.rom

The 9800M GTX is fully working in the M860TU but heat is a great problem.
I've tried playing Test Drive: Ultimate and it hit 100C.

But I found it weird that the card has a different subsystem on a different system. I thought it's the same everywhere.
