I have the Sager NP5790 with 7950GTX (163.76 drivers) on Windows XP Pro 32-bit with a notebook cooler. I'm using RivaTuner 2.06 as well and I OCed my card up to its limit (610/835). I can't OC the shaders as well but I heard that only the 8xxx cards can let you OC the shaders.
btw, how did you get 648 for your core clock? Mine never lets me go over 615... -
Well
how did u get 835 on memory clock?
i can't go ower 804
and max for core is 663,but i better stay with 648......
Thats a bat news man,WTF??I hope we can do that to,later, with new RT....or not......
Thank u anyway....What score's u get on this clock's??Can u share,please? -
Here's my 3DMark06 score when overclocked at 1280x1024. I did it a few weeks ago so it wasn't using the newest version of RivaTuner.
-
Dude , you made me curious about your score. How much is it? cause the pic ain`t showing anything.I`d like to see the difference from the normal 3dmark06 score and the OCed one..
-
anyway, here are the 2 screenshots:

Default 3DMark06: 5344
OC'ed 3DMark06: 5693
More details can be found here. -
That is hardly an improvement when your raised clock speed pretty high
pretty weird, I guess the 7950GTX is not that OCable...

If we're talking 5-9 FPS in Crysis, ok,it`s worth it. But for games likeHL2, FEAR, QUAKE 4...where the 7950 dominates anyway...there`s no point.
So which is it ? -

Can someone post an over clocking guide?
I have riva and I tired to overclock but it seems to do nothing, I am totally clueless (newb). -
Actually there are a couple here. Here is the basics though:
on the block that says ForceWare Detected click on the Customize.
Then click on the graphics card (system Settings)
Check Enable driver-level hardware overclocking.
Answer the question for your sutuation. (I just click Detect Now)
Then you can adjust to your prefered settings.
If you look around you can find the settings for your card on the forum.
8700 seems to be a good start around: Core 700, Shader 1400, Memory 850-900.
There is room to go up from this just go slow until you get what you want. -
-
Sorry I haven't used the 7950's I know the 7900 had room to overclock. Did you run 3d mark 06 to see how much it increased? If it was stable continue to increase until it becomes unstable then back down from that. Just go slow until you find that point then re-run your game.
