    Hey everyone,

as the new driver fix was released by LeeKM & MacHater i was wondering if anyone has already achieved to overclock the 7970M whilest using an external display.

I was quite happy when I was able to OC the card, using the notebook alone. Still, i haven't found a way to OC when my external display is attached.
    Anyone got news on that?

    cheers, core

Do you want to elaborate on what happens when you try?

External display is routed to the iGPU, but it would certainly help if you could shed some light on things you've tried and the results - if you have attempted it already. :)

Thats very true actually, in an enduro build plugging in a second monitor should not change the dGPU since its all handled by intel.

Well, my problem always was that i was not able to OC my card with afterburner... i followed all the guides, different driver versions, using kombustor at first to put some load on the card... nothing worked - afterburner always fixed the sliders at 0/0 although with the setting unofficial OC-support set to = 0, it had always shown the correct mhz on both sliders.
after lots of research i finally found a guy here on the forums who had the same problem and a very simple solution: detach your external display (mine is connected via hdmi) and it should work. so i detached it, reboot -> OC worked without any problems. -> attached the display again -> not working. not even when connecting the display after the OC had been applied. this sometimes gave me a freeze, bsod oder the sliders just went back to 0/0 (this wouldn't be a very comfortable solution anyway).

so after i read that leeKM and MacHater had found some kind of fix for the enduro problem (full utilization in most games) i tried again, but still no success. so i though maybe anyone else might have found a workaround by now.

    cheers, core

Well if you find the overclock you want you could get someone to update your video bios clocks.

Very odd! Perhaps Clevo decided to lock it down when using an external display to avoid users from abusing the system (overheating). You might have to go with the vBIOS mod as Meaker suggested.

I've been green for some time but it's not a problem I remember having with the P150EM and 7970M and I do have 2 monitors. Which OS are you on?

It's something driver related with you then... I am always using an external monitor/mouse/keyboard/.. to game on and never had any issues oc'ing the card.. the only time afterburner didnt work for me is 1) the card's not activated, fix = start up a game that's using it then alt-tab out of it or 2) incompatible driver version vs afterburner version

    I'm currently using afterburner 2.3.1 in combination with 13.5 beta 3(Using windows 7 Prof x64) and machater's dx9 fix, oc'ing just fine...

I suggest you try a full unistall of drivers and afterburner(this inludes manually removing any leftover folders/files that the unistaller didnt clean and try to install again.. also don't forget the right intel drivers ofcourse(can be found in clevo driver thread, don't install the latest one
