    Hi everyone,

    i've been following SlickDudes guide on overclocking the 7970M but unfortunately it's not working for me. First of all, i know his guide is for alienware notebooks but he mentioned that it's working for the clevo users as well.

    Problem: when starting MSI Afterburner there are no ways to change the clockspeeds because all the numbers are missing (can't read the speeds?).

    this happens after i update the Afterburner CFG file (Eula and unofficial = 1).
    using the original config without eula and unofficial = 0 it shows clock/memory 850 & 1200 like it should.

    i also changed the registry settings (001 Ulps = 0 etc.)

    I already asked slick what the problem could be but he mentioned that the settings i used should work and that there are some clevo users out there overclocking their 7970 by using his guide and its working just fine.

    so whats your secret guys? :) modded driver 12.5 or 12.6 or anything else?
    did you change stuff on the bios (afaik know we cant disable enduro on the clevos yet?)

    Would really appreciate some help!
    thx core²

    Did you go to AMD Switchable Graphics and selected to run Msi Afterburner on High Perfomance?

    You must do this before, so that the 7970m is activated (unfornately, there is no way, for now, to disable intel hd 4000)
    Otherwise, when you run the MSI, it will not use the 7970m, but integrated graphics, and so can not read 7970m speeds

    tried that already. not working either
    and i don't think thats the problem because, as i already wrote: when the msi afterburner CFG is not edited it shows the real clockspeeds even though i'm not running graphic-demanding stuff...

    Did you try rebooting? This happened to me and a simple reboot enabled it for me.

    Did you reboot after changing the registry before changing the values in msi afterburner? if not the you might have to reset everything default change/delete modifcations to default, reboot then change values again, reboot then retry.

    k, so set everything back to default (which for me actually is just set eula back, unofficial to "0" and the one registry entry to "1")
    reboot

    then change afterburner config first or registry?
    -> reboot
    change the other setting
    -> reboot
    then it should work? ;)

    hm, unfortunately it's not working either... guess i'm just gonna wait for better drivers to be released and then i might do a new driver setup.
    most games i play are working fine so far, just wanted to do a first overclock.

    so you guys haven't changed anything in the bios from default settings?
    all running 12.5 beta driver or 12.6 beta, too?

    i think the 12.6 drivers work better, but youve got to try for yourself which works best

    They do?
    Everyone on guru3d are pissed. Drivers have loads of problems, instability, and notably lower performance than 12.5 or 12.4.

    ATI is known for being slow on driver development. You get incredible hardware at a bargain price and have to wait for the drivers to slowly mature. The good news is that your graphics card will keep getting faster and faster without you spending a penny.

    I'm running on catalyst 12.6.9 Beta 7900 Mod and installed msi afterburner. It took me a while to unlock overclocking but this is what I did. I installed MSI afterburner, changed the CFG file, and then changed the EnableUlps value to 0.

    *You have to reboot your system first, then right click MSI afterburner on your desktop and select Run as administrator. That's how it worked for me.

    9.0 is the driver version, 12.6 is the date released, so yeah try the new driver.

    well... i still haven't managed to OC mine... been trying it with every driver out there, modded, not modded , clevo stock - 12.07 beta... not working.
    i also tried putting some pressure on the card and starting afterburner afterwards. funny thing is. when i use msi kombustor to put pressure on it says the card is running 850/1200 but it's still showing 0/0 in afterburner...
    anyone else still having the same problem or figured out another way to solve it?

    cheers, core
