Has anyone had any problems with an OCZ Vertex 3 in a p151hm1? I'd read that there had been a lot of problems with the sandforce controller drives, but I know they released firmware 2.15 which supposedly fixed most of them. I'd also seen a few people on the forums have them listed in their configs, and one in particular that said they flashed to 2.15 before installing and had no problems. Just curious to see if anyone has had the opposite experience because newegg had the 120gb drive for $140 dollars today.

There have been quite a few threads on it:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/601231-compatability-ocz-vertex-3-ssd-sager-np8150.html
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/572735-sager-8170-ocz-vertex-3-ssd-ahci-issue.html

While some say the new firmware helps, it seems to be a mixed bag. There's a chance you may not have any trouble at all and a chance that it simply will never work right. Intel is still the brand that is highly recommended for reliability.

If you feel up to it, you can always upgrade to an SSD at a later date (since SSD costs recently shot up in price). Installing an SSD is a pretty easy task with Sager models since they make the primary hard drive readily accessible from the bottom panel of the laptop.

I've heard some pretty good things about the Patriot drives. Anyone else have some experience with those SSDs?

The other threads I could find including the two listed above were all old from before the latest drivers that supposedly fixed those issues.

The intel drives may be more reliable and have less problems, but their prices are rediculous compared to most other companies of the same size. Weren't Patriot drives still sandforce controllers?
