Ok so now I have limited my decision down to these two laptops... it seems like the whitebook is the way to go... seems like twice the cpu for the price... but I have heard that the ATI cards don't do as well in games like crysis...but this could be fixed by a driver issue. What do you guys think about these two laptops? Which one do you think I should go with?

Sincerely, I think that you should go for the OCZ Whitebook, it is said that the issues with games such as Crysis and Far Cry 2 are due to the drivers, and that those issues will be fixed in the future with new Catalyst updates, ATi released a hotfix for Far Cry 2 and S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Clear Sky on October 29th, so it seems that a hotfix for Crysis is just matter of time.
Also, the OCZ Whitebook will last you for longer than the NP5796 before having to update components, and the ATi Mobilty Radeon 4850 and 4870 are coming out as well, it is speculated that the OCZ Whitebook will be able to take the 4870's with a heatsink modification, but it is just a rumor for now. -

Yes, a hotfix is a small driver update, it increases the performance of Crossfire on Far Cry 2 and S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Clear Sky, and well, since the 9800m GT / 8800m GTX has had more time to "age", its performance is still higher than that of the newly-released ATI Radeon HD 3870, but expect an increase in performance once newer and optimized drivers are released.

One thing that worries me is the price of the whitebook... it seems too good to be true... like its made more cheaply or something... is the cooling and fan noise up to par on it?
-
the Arima gaming notebooks up to now have been built pretty well.
the cooling is probably not as good as the current Clevo gaming notebooks, but what notebooks are?
the cooling seems fine from the multiple reviews and benchmarks with temp monitors. -
And you get a lighted keyboard...God do i miss having one!
-
So.... your saying I should go for it?

I'm just not yet impressed by the 3870s performance, outside of 3dmark scores.
1vs1, a single 9800gt > 3870 by a fare margin, and the crossfire isn't blowing away the GTX like they said it would.
I say wait just a little while if you can, because the 4850 is soon to see the light of day. Most of us aren't savvy enough to even consider heatsink modifications, so I'd be wary of getting stuck with the 3870 if the 4800s end up outperforming it. -
Decisions decisions.

So far the 5796 has been tried and tested, proven to be a good performing computer worth every penny. The Arima WD840i is the new kid on the block and currently going through it's paces. So far it seems like a decent laptop. If you check here in the OCZ forum, you should be able to find out more info on it. Though I imagine opinions there will be very biased towards the Arima.
Personally, I like the new Arima and if I were in the market for a new lappy, I would have one by now. Of course I do not mind or complain about new hardware or drivers being buggy and not working properly. I expect it and consider it a challenge to make it work. If you are ok with that, then I say go for it. -
Its really your choice. I personally think that the whitebook looks better and is a pretty awesome machine. But I like the 5796 because of the foundation it has already made. The whitebook certainly will end up as a spectacular machine, but I prefer the nvidia gpus and how most of the rough edges of the 5796 have been worked out. Both are good machines, its really your choice.

Hei, I was in the same situation and in the end I decided to go for the 5796. My reasons were a bit different, namely the difference in size and weight (the OCZ is 2.5 lbs heavier and the battery barely lasts 1.5h on video playback). Also I am still to be convinced by the ATI 3870.
OCZ White book vs NP5796 which is better?
