OCing my 9261

hey guys I'm looking to oc my new beast and i thought that i read that u can micro a key to turn the rivertuner on and off

also that there's a program that shows u the temps transparent while gaming so i don't cook it i looked but i cant find it so if u can point me in the right direction it will be greatly appreciated also i am looking at my settings at

rop = 756

shader = 1513

memory 951


did anyone fine tune it better

 

RivaTuner can do the OC'ing and temp monitoring while in-game.

yes excellent i just have a few questions i have 2 core temps 0 and 1
so i did them both but one is running at 51c and the other 60c wassup with that also i did the fps but it did not give me the option to run server button so i just hit OK

 

if you hit Run Server once, then it goes for all.

two videocards, two temps... they should be close in temp (within 10C degrees is perfectly fine)

 

OK great now the 2 final questions question 1 can i bind the ocing to a key so i can turn it on and off? i only need it for gaming, not idling or surfing.
question #2 do you know what setting are good for great game play but still safe my oc is currently

One runs hotter because it does most of the work when not playing games.

edit:
The OC only is only in effect when you are playing games or when the card switches to 3d mode. Widows does not do this when surfing the web or word type applications. As far as I know this also applies to vista areo modes as well. If not someone else please add and correct.

look around here, there are many people with your exact system setup and OC'ed with SLI 8700M GT's.

To bind a shortcut key is in the guide... I only showed how to toggle the Server... but you can use the guide to make your own OC toggle.

no, as long as your temps are safely under 90C degrees, then you should be fine.

Remember... you have a Fan Toggle (Fn + 1) to help you maximize cooling.

 

That is correct. You could set up a profile that you can change on the fly also if you wish to.

 

the reason i asked for the setting is i got 10055 for the3dmark06 score and i was getting 8998 without ocing i think i can get much better (hoping)

 

9000-10000 is already considered high-end for even a desktop.

getting a few more 100's will not be significant in a performance increase at all.

a few 1000's however... would be significant... but do not push your system too far into dangerous levels.

 

ok yes i am aware of fn+1 i dont want to have to hit funtion+1 unless i have to. i am going to try crysis and bio to see what temps i hit before i start tweaking the settings. unless someone else has the same machine and has tweaked it already would love to see the settings .

Gophn good advice. At this point if you wish to continue do so in small increments. 10-20 and only one setting at a time. You should have room on memory and on the shaders. Uncheck the link clocks and adjust both independently. This is how you learn the limits. I know on mine I couldn't get much over 10300 before it was unstable but in all honesty I didn't really try. I am happy with stock for now.

you do know 3dmark score are very moot, as they just go at 1280x1024 .

I mean who games @that res with a high end notebook.????

Crank it up to 1600x900 or 1900x1200. then run the program and see how many marks you get.

I never ever ever game @ 1280x1024 not even in crysis.

 

I agree, but it's the standard atm...(or one of the standards) Most of the lower end laptops barely get above 1440x900. So it's close to the mark for them.

 

When comparing your system to other system you have to use the same setting to get real numbers. in this case it is 1280x1024, if you just want to see your system and compare performance gains you can just bump the resolution up in 3d mark and run your tests. the performance gains are linear to a point. That is until you max out what your card can do and it is relying on the cpu for the performance.

 

of course it's going to be good at low res.

crank it up to high res and it will show what it can do when you game at high res.

sure when I get my new PSU, as I said in a few of my previous posts I burned it up from OCing and playing crysis I was screaming getting 30fps+ @1600x900 and all setting to medium. oc'd to 650/750.

256bit bus helps at higher res but my power requirements and cheapo chineese adapter speak for themselves.

I can't wait until next month and I get my D901c

two things one is that vista will not let rivertuner to turn on without it being verified blocked programs @ start up so i have to re **** it when i boot up . how do i stop that from happening

next is when i oc it it says display driver stop working but recovered whats that all about

 

The first one run it as administrator, the second might be linked to the first. I saw some others having this issue but I don't remember the fix. I will poke around some and post what I find.

Vista sux for Gaming. IMHO. I have both but EXCLUSIVELY use XP for gaming.

 

i have only a few problem with it and when i get them sorted out it will be fine
i think most of it is operator error

I actually haven't heard anyone playing Crysis above 1200x800 at any decent framerate.

As for using XP it is more streamlined and been through 2 services packs so it is in better shape than vista. But then again the same thing happen when XP came out one step forward two steps back.

 

lol, OK good because that's the highest i can play it at.(without any issues) if i go lower its better game play.
1152x864 is the best i think with no issues

for crysis, set your SLi to Alternate Frame Rendering mode 1.

Actually, for Crysis Alternate Frame Rendering Mode 3 is recommended. It's what I'm currently using.

yes i only have 1 or 2 no 3
so i put it to one
it was on single gpu

 

I'm using 169.09 drivers for Win XP.

Single GPU is just that a single GPU, you'll get more performance from setting to to anything other than Single GPU.

I use Nhancer because it overides the driver and puts in the best mode for a game. I highly recommend it. The latest version is 2.3.2, fyi.

 

@Gmau... get the new Rivatuner 2.06. it has the new signed drivers that work with Vista x64. i have it running on my desktop and it works fine.

i also have 169.04 w/modified INF i was told to use it because it was more stable then the 169.09(its been out longer)
is there a difference between .04 and .09 that one is for 64 bit and one not?

i have rivertuner 2.06 i like it. correction love it a have to re oc it every time i reboot cause vista says its not validated and wont start it (the startup blocker. ) when i start it it goes back to stock so I'm not real able to fine tune it . its driving me crazy couse i know it me.
i don't have the fps working, tho it shows the graph with the 2 temps but it doesn't show fps while I'm gaming i have the G15 keyboard w lcd screen and it show all 3. the 2 temps work fine but fps shows a N/A
i have also one more problem i can not see some videos it asks to dl the newest flash players and i do but it does not let me view it
I'm not familiar with vista at all

About Crysis. I simply uninstalled the game. I can't get any good imagery compared to COD4 while being smooth . I'm waiting for the PATCH and for the game to deal with SLI properly. I honestly don't have the patience to tweek the game to my needs. I just want to run it at 1280x1024 with all on HIGH and that is it (maybe some things on Ultra High) ... and I can't. This considering that with one 8700M GT card people seam to be able to run it HIGH except for one or two options on MEDIUM. Until then I will not even bother.
