During start up my screen will flash black for 1/2 a second during the BIOS load and then once again during log-in. This started after I did a system restore to undo some changes I made to several drivers........I'm fairly certain this is a driver issue but not quite sure how to fix it, was hoping someone else has had a common experience with this.

Though with that being said my system is otherwise performing well.........hitting around 5850 in 3d11, so I'm a bit boggled by this.

Mine does that occasionally. It started doing it around the same time I got a virus on a bad wifi network, though it could be a coincidence. The infection was taken care of quickly but I have had the black screen flash on login maybe one in ten logins or less. My graphics drivers haven't been changed since then either, so I guess that doesn't narrow anything down either :p

Mine does it on every startup, the fact that it's flashing during the BIOS screen worries me as that seems more like a hardware issue. It also takes a fairly long time to log into windows, even for a regular HDD.

Quit honestly this is driving me insane, used msconfig to disable everything so as far as I can tell it's not a program causing this. The only other thing that I can think of is maybe switchable graphics? But then if that's the case why is the BIOS splash flashing also?

Edit: I'm going to do a full reinstall of windows when I get home :( , hopefully that will fix the issue...............I've already bugged my reseller enough

Have you checked your boot order in BIOS to see what your boot first device is? I understand that it only did this after the Windows re-install, but I am curious if that might be part of it.

Also, have you installed the Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver? If you did, remove that and see if it helps. Occasionally, IRST has caused the system to slow down rather than speed up.

I reset the BIOS to the original optimization after the re-install but the flashing is still there, and getting somewhat worse. On occasion (1/5 times) the screen will flash several times and hang up during startup/log-in  . I found some newer drivers on Sagers site that I hope will help, but right now I'm on my old laptop until I can get home and work on it some more.

Also IRST wouldn't even install from the driver disk when I tried, kept saying that I needed to enable it, but when I looked in the BIOS it said it was already enabled.

I just don't seem to have any luck with laptops :( .

Update: After doing another reinstall I noticed that upon the fresh install no flashing would occur, it was only after I changed the screen resolution from 800x600 that the screen would start begin flashing on startup/log-in.

hopefully this will mean something to someone, if not then idk what I'm gonna do, it doesn't seem to be adversely effecting performance but it sure is obnoxious.....................guess I'll just have to deal :(

Ya, something is off either in the BIOS or with our HDD's............I'm going to contact my reseller just to be sure it's not a hardware defect.

Wait, are you talking about when you start up and see the Sager logo, and then it flashes and shows the Sager logo again? I've experienced that and never believed it was a problem, lol.

Hmmm....then it would seem that it's just a "feature" of Sager's then, I've just never had a laptop/computer do that before. Does your screen also flash during log-in?

Well, not during login, but only at the startup Sager logo screen...
