Just got it today and installed several Benchmark tools.

I haven't updated my GPU drivers yet, so some of my scores are low. Will update later.

I'll play/tweak it some more this weekend!

Anyways here's a side by side comparison of the NP9280 with the M1730.

Need to figure out how to run this. I think I need the demo?

    One more thing....

I notice on CPU-Z my core speed varies? The multiplier goes from x25 to x12 and seems to stay on x16.

I laptop is plugged in and has a balanced power plan.

    Any ideas?

EDIT: Is it doing this to Save Power or Conserve Energy?

    Is this Normal?

    Thanks

NICE scores, a bit low though. I wonder if you've remembered to put the battery to "high performance" so everything is on full-tilt. If not, then things are possibly fluctuating about (causing the scores to be where they are). When benchmarking / gaming, plug in... turn the battery to "high performance" and then everything will be at full blast for those extra amounts of goodness. Balanced means that it stays in a "midrange power mode" and goes up and down as you need it. High Performance is full throttle, and power-saver is when you have to use the computer in a meeting or in class and there's no outlet nearby, or you wouldn't want to have a wire sticking out.

I remembered it when I was half way through benchmarking, so I was like F it. I'll update ASAP.

It was on Balance, but I put it on High Performance and it's still fluctuating in CPUZ.

I was told it was a combination of Intel's speed step and halt state technology.

It gets lower when not really needed, but will get higher doing something stressful.

Remember based on load and core usage, the i7 will OC a single core by a bin to 3400+. Multi core, it will peak and stay at 3333. If the system is under a heavy load (OCCT/Prime95 Max heat, 8 threads), if it isn't getting enough air intake, it will throttle to ~2222mhz for a brief second to get the temps down to the mid to low 70's then plug away for minutes till the temp gets back up to ~87-89 and will repeat. It downclocks for only a few seconds and the Clevo cooling blasts it down to the 70's almost instantly.

This is of course under the most brutal stress test you can possibly throw at it known (OCCT and Linpack) which is unrealistic and the system isn't getting the ventilation it requires.

Mine seems to idle at 1600Mhz+2200Mhz+, the only time it kicks back up to 3333Mhz is if I'm benchmarking, running games and using 3D Applications.

The fans do kick in and speed up really fast cause its loud, but only for a sec or two at a time once in awhile.

I also looked in the bios, but it's pretty much all the basic stuff in there. It doesn't even have any Fan speed options.

Should I try loading the Default Setting again?
