Hey, first time poster here. Been a LONG-time lurker on these forums.
I've had an old Clevo m865tu (bought from iBuypower once upon a time) in my closet with a fried graphics card for years and years. Just recently I started making an effort to find a fix (or replacement card) for it, and my search led me back to this site over and over again. The baking (reflow) method was mentioned a few times, so I gave it a try (380F for 7 minutes) and.. the GTX 260M is back in business. Holy moley! Better than sending $90 off to china that's for sure. Time to fire up some Command and Conquer and Battlefield 1942!
Just wanted to give a shout out to the NotebookReview community and say thank you for all the awesome information you've gathered on this site. You guys are the bomb!

380F is not hot enough to permanently fix the card. You just unwarped it a little to bring broken solder connections back into contact, but they are still not soldered, so as the card rebends slightly from use those connections will lose contact again. You need to bake at over the solder melting point for a true fix, which is 217C.

Just err on the side of perhaps being too low a temperature rather than to high or it will kill the card

Good Job! I baked my 470m and got another year and a half out of it but it just died again over Christmas. I think I baked mine around 375-380 degrees because I was worried about melting things that shouldn't melt. I decided to pony up and buy a new 470m off ebay for $55 to hopefully get a few more years out of it. Main problem is it's coming from China and est shipping arrival is Feb.

Still typing from my M570TU, the same generation as your M865TU.

The other issue with the older cards is you don't know what they have been through, even baking by someone else.

Just buy a Quadro as I did. Those things are solid, I have mine for 6 years now. Not as fast as GTX, but definitely more reliable.

The core and package is the same basically, so they can have issues too.
