Hello all, my mates laptop has a problem with the lcd screen it was booting up but the monitor was white. I managed to work out what the problem was, it was the video cable from the mother board to the lcd screen some wires had worn and broke so after eefing around and soldering the wires back together I taped them up and connected every thing, but when I go to attach to lcd screen onto the metal hinges that holds the screen in place it makes a little spark and shuts the computer down.

I'm pritty shore I checked it was working once I sorted out the broken wires, so I taped them up and put it back together now the screen is white again and also theres some sort of problem with what I assume is an earth problem.

I've spent the best part of 2 bloody days on this as I'm no expert, most of the time was working out how to take it apart but I was very carefull with the screen.

anyway theres a possiblity I messed up the re-wiring of the video cable but like I said im pritty sure I checked it before taping all back up and putting it back together.

So could this earth problem be the cores of the white screen I really cant be assed to take apart the video cable again but I have no idea how to get a replacement cable.

Im tired and my bloody back is killing me from all the bending over and fiddling with wires plus a bent the pins on the mother board connector which I sorted.

Maybe some one has a clue cos I'm giving up for now.

Damm it was sure it was going to work.

Any help most welcome I guess the best thing is to get a new cable but its an old laptop so if any one has some advise on that it will be most appreciated.

the LCD cable might just be worn out.... and needs replacement.

the replacement cable should not be expensive to buy.

contact a Clevo vendor to find that part... like www.eurocom.com

Hi thanks again for your reply, I have got hold of Clevo in the U.k but the cable has no serial number so I have to send it off to them. No problem, they where very helpful too the girl who did'nt sound English really knew her stuff, said there are 6 or 7 differant cables for that model very helpful and will cost about 25 pounds if they have one....so just have to wait and see. I'll post back just in case someone else has the same problem.

    cheers.

which D400E do you have? ... meaning what is the size of the LCD? (14" or 15")

also could you check the back of the LCD panel to find out if its AU or IDT or CPT
