While I am waiting for my NP2090 my older NP3790 decided to act up. When I press the power button it does not turn on. I have it plugged in and the LEDs show that there is power and the battery is charging. I have tried it with the battery in and with it out. Also, I did notice over the past month that it would just shut off spontaneously sometimes when running on battery power.

Is the AC adapter bad? Is the internal power bad?

Any advice on how to fix this oldie but goodie would be appreciate.

    Thanks!
    Sour

Does the light on the A/C adapter shine?

If you can isolate the A/C adapter as a functional part, then you know it's a motherboard issue. Or, it's booting up and the LCD isn't working...but you are saying the lights don't come on...

The light on the AC adapter is on.

The machine will not even power on. I press the on button but nothing happens - no screen, no post, nothing.

If it is the mobo, is it worth it getting fixed? If so, where do people recommend getting laptops repaired?

Remove the battery and try to power it on with just AC power.

The battery might be causing the problem...if its been worn out enough.
