Hey I am looking to buy an np8662 in a few weeks but there are a few things that are holding me back...

    1. How is the screen? I have heard and seen in some videos of the np8660 that the screen flexes/wobbles alot and that the quality isn't too great... Can anyone tell me if this is not the case, or if it is fixed in the np8662's?

    2. Is the loud fan noise fixed in the np8662?

    3. How is the keyboard? I have heard that it isn't too great either.

    -Thanks for everyones help

    1. I've seen that one video where the person's lid seemed to bubble as he pushed on it, and all I can say is that mine is completely float and is impossible to flex with any amount of pressure.

    2. There is no "fix". Depending on the game, the fan will get loud. For example, when I'm playing Dawn Of War 2, the fan raises just above idle, but if I put on Crysis Warhead, it will ramp up and put out some serious air. While web browsing, texting, or just idle, it's pretty quiet. Note that any legit gaming notebook will have3 a powerful fan, so it's an unavoidable issue that comes with the territory.

    3. My keyboard is nice. The keys are all quiet and responsive, with the exception of the spacebar, which is clicky. It's not loud or something that's a noticeable in public, but it stands out because it's the only key I hear when I type. It's a better keyboard overall than my Vostro 1500 had. The best thing about the keyboard, for me, is that there is no coating on the keys or touchpad, so I don't have to worry about any wear marks showing up over time.

They are three questions not one. :p
Tell me what laptops have you previously owned so that I can tell you if its screen and keyboard are better or worse.

Yeah my bad... maybe I should wake up more before posting stuff... :p

Right now I am using an Alienware m15x which I plan on selling, it has a 1440x900 screen.

Forgot to say that my LG made screen is on the dim side, but the colors are great. I've seen others with brighter screens, but I can't remember the manufacturers.

Oh and 1680x1050 on a 15.4" is something you'll love.

Not sure about the WSXGA on m15x, my buddy has WUXGA and is better than 8662's, and the keys are "softer" too.

I've had a np8662 for about 3 weeks now, here are my impressions:

    1. The screen is great. It's the brightest laptop display I've ever had, and everything looks great on it. I have the glossy screen. There are no issues with flex or wobble on my unit.

    2. I don't find the fan to be loud. At low speed, it's barely noticeable. When it kicks into high, the sound is much more like a steady woosh than a typical fan noise. It's much lower in pitch, and doesn't disturb my nearby wife.

    3. The keyboard is meh. The size and placement of the keys are very good, and it seems sturdy, but pressed keys do not always register.
