I have a GTX260M (CLEVO M860TU) and the newest drivers seems to have problems with "Opencl" software..
With the 258.96 Opencl is completely disabled..![]()
Anyone else having this problem?![]()
You can check this with gamecube/wii emulator Dolphin..
GPU'z for checking if this is enabled..
Weird colored pixels on screen if i can use Opencl with a driver after some time (257.xx)![]()
edit: I'm on WIN7 64bit..

I'd like to pitch in here.
I'm running 2 8800m GTX in SLI and my driver version is 257.21, yet GPUZ tells me that OpenCL is not enabled/supported for my GPU. Could you guys give me a hint regarding that? Since the 8800m GTX is CUDA enabled and physically the same as a 9800m GT it should be able to run OpenCL without problems, but it seems like it doesnt even get enabled to begin with.
@didado: Sorry if I jump in on your thread - my problem is of the same nature so I thought wed best keep it together -
No problem, 2 are better then 1
the GTX260M is a 9800M GTX so were close on the same thing here -
gpu z also reports my 280m doest not support opencl and im using 197.16.
could nvidia or windows be disabling open cl support since they have their own standards in cuda and directcompute? -
257.21 , not enabled.
I was going to try the verde driver, i'll see if that changes it. -
So i am not the only one with this problem
I hope this feature will be fixed in the next driver because this is of great use ..
The gpu helps the cpu with the heavy work.. -
What about using a previous version of driver, which supports onpencl?
-
I have had a GTX 280M nearly a year now, and none of Nvidia's drivers in this time has given the gpu OpenCL capability, as far as I can remember.
-
As far as I can remember, all of the Drivers I tried before the 257.xx ones had OpenCL enabled. The last Microsoft WHQL 198.05 also had OpenCL enabled. I get the feeling that anyone who has older GPU's shouldn't bother with 257.xx anyway.
Edit: I had no idea Dolphin made use of OpenCL, I will be sure to try this out now. It looks like this is only available in the most recent Svn builds. The one I just downloaded says it is 2 hours and 44 minutes old lol.
Edit: I can confirm that going back to Microsoft WHQL 198.05 enables OpenCL again just as I thought I remembered it doing. -
Hmm that sounds great laptoput. Does anybody have an idea why nvidia disabled OpenCL support for their newer drivers? I mean they keep advertising "with OpenCL" so what's the deal here?
-
@ Anthuzad
I doubt it was done on purpose, it might be a bug. For example, in some new Driver installs you will find Physx is disabled unless you uninstall and reinstall it again or there could be problems in the inf's causing it but that's just a guess. -
Funny thing, I went back to install the drivers you mentioned and now OpenCL is working as intended. Just as you said now, PhsyX is disabled though
Strange things indeed, come on nvidia - get your act together ^^ -
I will try 198.05, will look if Physx is disabled
-
Could be that CPUID doesn't report it right, you know...
-
You mean GPU'z
If the emulator Dolphin don't work with "Opencl" enabled or other apps then i'm sure of it -
couldnt you install opencl independently like you can with physix
-
Open CL is showing as enabled with these Drivers
They are Microsoft 257.51 Notebook / Desktop WHQL. -
Thank you for testing..
I know that the 257.xx are opencl enabled drivers but these gave strange screen problems after i use them for a while..
It all get strange colored pixels but when i reboot its gone.. (using dolphin emu with opencl enabled)..
Hope it has nothing to do with my videocard itself.. I can play games with no opencl normal with no problems.. -
Opencl in Dolphin is still experimental so it could just be down to that. I know the 257.xx are opencl enabled but when I installed the Nvidia ones, it was not working. Only these Microsoft ones show it as enabled.
Opencl problem GTX260M..
