Hey guys, I have to check the LCD cable going from the motherboard to the screen for solving a problem I had posted about a while ago (and postponed due to not being so bad until now)

Could anyone tell me how to open it up exactly? I'm a bit hesistant to open up this expensive behemoth, I might break something in the process..

    Easy.

    - Turn off system, remove battery.
    - Remove Clevo Keyboard (no screws)
    - Lift and remove the black plastic cover, which sits right above the power button and other hot keys
    - Locate the LCD and inverter cable (the two largest cable plugs in the upper-left-most area of the system
    - Unplug the cable with the wider connector by pulling upward.
    - Verify that there are no bent pins on either one of the connectors.
    - Reseat the cable by aligning the connector with its respective socket and applying downward pressure.

I need to replace the cable but I can't open / detach the screen, so I can't disconnect the ribbon from the screen. Help please? :)

    bit off-topic:
My dvd drive (optiarc AD 7530-B) is failing to read any disc after I copied many (quite alot, i think near 75) dvds to my external harddrive. Now it just makes continual weird reading noises and when I click on the drive in explorer, it just shows nothing, not even a message that I can't read the disc.
    Broken or fixable?

If you still have warranty, get it fixed from the supplier.
Sounds like a hardware issue to me.

I agree with Eleron911, the optical drive sounds like a hardware malfunction - it's possible that you just plumb wore out the lens on the drive, or that it might have ingested some dirt/dust/no-see-ums during your marathon session that scratched the lens.
