I got my np9170 a few days ago, and I didn't buy a hard drive caddy to replace the optical drive with. My fend recently gave me another ssd drive and I want to add it in. The only place would be the optical drive slot (the ssd is sata 2).

What type of caddy should I buy? Which one would fit into the np9170 and not stick out/have any problems fitting in. I have never bought a caddy before and don't know what to look for.

Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

The optical drive is SATA-II so you would be better off putting a mechanical hard drive in there, if you were to have two SSDs and a mechanical drive (allowing the SSDs to take full advantage of SATA-III speeds). Assuming you have a SATA hard drive, you'd want to get a SATA to SATA caddy (though I don't know any specific models).

This one looks like it would work. Looks about like the one I got with mine from Sager. I'd probably make sure it would work from someone else more knowledgeable though before ordering.

To add to the original question though. Anyone know if it's possible to get a blank bezel? I don't really like how mine has the typical DVD-R stamping on it and the button that does nothing. When I first saw it on the laptop I was like "crap...Sager messed up and sent me a DVD drive" lol.

That one does look like it will work, any 12.7mm SATA caddy should work in there. Never have seen a blank bezel.
