After getting a Windows 8 Tablet, I decided to upgrade my Laptop to Windows 8 as well (P150EM). But it seems Optimus is just not working. My Nvidia GPU won't turn off. The fan keeps blowing. And HWMonitor displays a temp for it. On Windows 7, I would know that my GPU was off if the fan was off and HWMonitor wouldn't display temp data. I've changed Power Settings and Nvidia Control Panel settings but still nothing.

Has anyone else had similar experiences or understands the issue? Also, getting drivers installed was really annoying and required me to reinstall the OS a few times because of things not working right.

Are you on the latest bios? You could maybe look at your intel drivers too.

People had similar experiences after initiating the dGPU with a program where the fan would rev until opening NVidia Inspector. Is that akin to what you're seeing? Or is the fan revving nonstop, even from boot?
