after 2 good months of looking for the best laptop for the price & proformance i just had to go with the 5760. Looks like everybody that has bought this desktop replacement is fully satisfied and doest not regret spending every penny. I am dying too see what it looks like in real life and what the games play like on this baby. As i am running a ati x850 pro on my pc, which is ok i guess; but i only have 1 gig of ram. So i believe this thing should blow my pc away (which is about 5 years old, but still is good too me). Anyways, i ordered it on lets see, the 27th, so i am hope it is here before spring break so i can show it off to my buddies. Anyway, now the specs...

The only thing im douting is the WSXGA+ "Super Clear Glossy" since i believe i upgraded only for the glossyness, but than again it may be good. ALSO Windows Vista Premium - (64-Bit installed - 64 and 32-bit CD included) since i hear that there are alot of 64 bit issues. i take it that i will only get the 64 bit cd and not the 32?
thanks to all who shared there experiences.\
p.s what color is the top. because ive seen silver metalish and ive seen a sleek black which looks really nice
-
congrats on the new machine, it should be a screamer.
give us some impressions when you get it. -
I was a little concerned about the glossy screen too, but I have to say, I love it.
Here is a picture comparing a glossy screen to a matte screen (although the Matte is lower resolution than yours, and the glossy is a bit higher) and you can see the difference in the contrast.
-
where did you buy from?
-
-
yep. ordered from powernotebooks, as they seemed to have the best overall "grade"? mostly because u guys here recomended it, and the clevo guide said it was good too. i cant wait!
should i be concerned about buying a cooling pad? or i should be ok with making sure that it is well air efficient? -
Check out the Zalman ZM-NC1000, its very good and has been reviewed for use here [in NBR] with this model notebook. ( read here)
For a portable alternative, I would recommend the Vantec LapCool4, which can be folded up to fit in any bag/backpack. I have been using it for my 17" Clevo, its great.
And to help prevent longevity and overheating, always:
- use the Clevo Fan Speed Toggle (Fn+F2) when gaming.
- monitor those temps (CPU, GPU, HDD, etc..) [not perfect with Vista yet]
These should not be considered problems or issues to worry about, rather they are just what comes with the territory [of having a high-end gaming notebook]. -
Awesome laptops Notebook Evangelist
awesome laptop when you get tell me what you think i am also considering buying one
-
about the cooling pad, is there anything cheaper? im kindof on a budget -
Awesome laptop!
Congratulations on the machine. -
Congrats on the order. You won't be disappointed with the notebook or with powernotebooks.
If you are not going to purchase a cooler immediately, at the very least elevate the back of your notebook on a binder or textbook to allow a bit more airflow to the bottom. I've been doing that when I forget my cooler and it does make a difference. Nothing can replace a good cooler though. -
thanks guys, im trying to find the best 25 or under cooler for my new lappy before it gets here. so if u guys have any suggestions id really like to know

You can be okay without a notebook cooler as long as:
- you always use it on a hard-flat surface (thats preferably dust-free)
- always use the Fan Speed toggle (Fn+F2) when gaming
- make sure the fan grills and the fans are not clogged-up with dust. -
very very nice! i think ill get it!
-
Something else to help with cooling - build a wedge to raise it up so there's plenty of air circulation room.
I use the Zalman NC1000 as many others have noted. However, Don't you think it would be worthwhile to spring for the extra $25 ($50 at Newegg) for the Zalman? After all, you've just invested $2,369 in a DTR... Not wanted to sound snotty or anything, but it's worth it IMHO. Like getting a Porche and not wanting to use premium gas... -
i would have to wait than, you donot understand how broke i am at the moment. Do you think the lappy will survive withought nothing for a month or so?

I used the M570U without a cooler when I had it on loan. I did not experience any heating issues. Just remember to do what Gophn said . . .
-
I've had mine since August and have yet to purchase a cooler for it.
I prop up the back of the laptop when i'm gaming to get some extra space underneath and turn up the fans. I've had no problems at all running the newest games, and no temp problems, even with my video card overclocked.
The fan system in the 570U is built to handle the temps, as long as you use it. (turn it up) -
ok thanks, looks like i will have it on thursday. whats the 3d mark thing all about? do i download them or something?
-
yea, if you want to benchmark your system [to compared or show it off to others], go to:
www.futuremark.com
download the 3DMark06 and PCMark
run each benchmark on default settings, and then post them.
Since you plan on doing that [the benchmarks], maybe you can give us a review of it. Contact Andrew or Chaz for a bit more info.

You should be very proud, since your notebook should rank up to the fastest performers. -
Ah... Remember those days... Ramen noodles - LOTS of them! -
heh. not there just yet. im only in highschool O_O
-
ok guys. i am very happy to say that i am currently on my new sager!! it am currently running vista 64 bit. is that a huge problem or is it crucial that i install the 32 bit?
-
.
My empathies for Vista, though. I'm usually a fairly early adopter (hey, I run unstable on Gentoo with SVN beryl, einit, and more), but Vista seems to have all sorts of performance/usability issues. I know that all those problems will eventually get dealt with - just because it's Windows and almost everyone uses it - but until SP1 or SP2 then you might be suffering more than if you had XP (or Linux). I plan on installing XP Pro on my Clevo for game support and then running Linux for everything else like I do today. Judging by a lot of information out there, it looks like XP will be around for quite some time yet - for support, etc - because people don't want to upgrade without being 'forced to' through a new computer purchase.
Sorry for rambling a bit. Anyway, I was going to say that Vista 64-bit drivers should probably be about as good as the 32-bit drivers since they both basically are equally (im)mature. That's unlike XP 64-bit drivers, which generally performed worse than their 32-bit siblings. I have no real experience to back up that guesstimate though. -
yea. everything seems to be moving as smooth as silk. i mean i am multitasking to the max. from installing 5 diff things at the same time too posting on nbr! What i did was backed up the files i would of needed onto a few dvd's and now im making a complete makeover to make this baby run what i want. i cant wait till my games get installed/updated too see what this thing can rele do!!
i hope u get urs quick

Hey Paymon. I just ordered my 5760 from Powernotebooks yesterday. I unfortunately made the mistake of doing it Easter weekend, where everything including the banks are processing everything more slowly. I probably won't get my notebook for 2 weeks unfortunately. That's my fault though, and Ron from Powernotebooks has been extremely helpful in answering my questions.
How's your notebook running so far? I was apprehensive of getting Vista Premium, but I said "oh what the heck?" and got it anyways. Wanted to get the "full experience" of a new and exciting notebook. I'll deal with the driver issues as they come. Any thoughts on your 5760 since you've had time to play with it? Any praises or regrets? How's the newest drivers working with your 7950 gpu? Any gaming problems from Vista? What are your Vista experience marks? Just wondering since I pretty much got the same exact configuration as you, except with a 160gb hard-drive.
I was actually thinking about waiting on the new Clevo m570ru, but I couldn't wait 2 months, and I was intrigued by the DJ panel in the front of the 5760. The replacement didn't have it. I actually bought a cheap Acer laptop, and building a gaming desktop, but had some regrets since I rather not have my gaming experience limited to my house, so sold the cheap Acer.
Thanks and I'm glad to soon join the Sager/Clevo community!
