Ordered a Clevo P770DM-G from HIDevolution. Their sales manager Mr. Ted even processed the order before me making a payment because I had bought two 2TB 5400RPM Samsung Spinpoint HDDs in the past so I told him I don't have the money on me right now but he trusting me, processed the order without even me having to pay a downpayment! this is top class service.

    Specs are as follows:

    @myx

I just sent an email to HID Evolution asking them to ensure I get the 17.3" FHD - LG LP173WF4-SPD1 - 75Hz and not the 17.3" FHD - LG LP173WF4-SPF1 - 60Hz

    I hope I don't get the 60 Hz panel

Not really, for the specs, it's actually priced well.

I was about to order 2x Samsung 850 PRO SSDs instead dof the 2x 2TB Samsung Spinpint 5400 RPM HDDs to go in the 2nd RAID 0 array but not sure if I should. The 2nd RAID array will only be used to store movies/docs/pics

PS: I got the money by selling my previous Origin PC Millennium Desktop yesterday for $4000 USD to the CEO of Hitachi in Dubai, he loves it :D

Take care of it and hope it lasts you a long time considering that enormous price tag. Don't fiddle with it, customizing/modding/maximizing too much and just enjoy using it.

Don't be surprised if your Skylake does run hot, it's a gamble if you get a decent cool or a hot bin. No amount of delidding, liquid metal cooling will make much difference, just live with it or buy a new CPU is my advice.

Die hard fans say fan noise isn't that bad, they're wrong, fan noise is still an issue on these series. It is loud, just because it wasn't as loud as previous P170EM doesn't mean it is quiet, just meant P170EM was a turbine.

I disagree. Delidding can make a 10-20c temperature difference right away, liquid metal can be another 2-7c, and undervolting can be another 5-10c. Combine all of those, and you can get up to 30-40c temperature drops. When you get lower temperatures, you get lower fan speeds and thus less fan noise.

Congratulations on the new laptop - looks like a tasty build. Give me a call when you get bored with it :)

That is BS. I did all of the above and got maybe 5C difference and this CPU bin was crud, so after doing so, I'm about par or slightly lower than a well binned CPU.

What Clevo should have done is delidded the CPU to begin with and developed a direct to die heatsink/cooling system for the CPU. That would have been brilliant.

You delid + CLU and get only -5°C ? Can you show your spread ?
If you have a heat sink gap it might be that theres bad contact between heatsink and IHS.
I used CLU before my screw mod and there was barely any contact while using excessive CLU.

If I did delid with CLU and only got 5° off, my Jimmies would be rustled until I found the issue and solved it.

Nope, it's not BS. I have absolutely no reason to lie to random people on the internet. I have seen countless benchmarks of people delidding CPUs and dropping literally 30c just from delidding alone. I simply do not believe that you got a 5c different from all of the above, you would get more than that from undervolting alone, assuming your cooling is good. There has to be something else going on here, perhaps your heatsink is exceptionally bent and not making any contact at all or at least next to no contact. I would suggest maybe ordering another heatsink and hoping it isn't super bent, or maybe lapping your current heatsink.

As far as I know, delidding the CPU voids the warranty, and Clevo isn't in the business of voiding warranties of parts they use.

Congratulations on the new laptop @Matrix Leader A processor without Clu is like a car without engine :p. Smart choice... Will never use other paste than Clu on a processor. No matter what processor I want to have.

Think maybe this will be my next one. Of course maximum overclocked(binned processor), 2x330w, upgraded and with Clu... http://www.multicom.no/multicom-kunshan-p870-killer-edition-173/cat-p/c/p10632051

GTX 980 (single) is awesome, but GTX 980M SLI is more powerful. If I were going to order one today, I would go that route. But, this is a really sweet beast either way.

is there any laptop available now that's has 980 GTX SLI with a Skyflake 6700K CPU from HIDevolution?

I don't wanna order from Eurocomega since they don't ship internationally and HIDevolution'a warranty is great for international customers. plus I have already paid them around 5K USD I don't wanna wait for the refund so I'd rather get something from them.

sent from my over clocked/ over volted Galaxy S6 edge+ 64GB

Nobody is going to have the 200W version of GTX 980 in SLI for a while, if ever, and some not at all. The 200W version does not even have a connection for the SLI bridge cable, and the 200W version is what this monster has in it. Even though the CPU is 95W TDP most of the time (during the GPU part of benchmarks like 3DMark11 and Fire Strike) the CPU is only drawing about 1.150V and 25W running @ 40x4 (stock turbo), and it holds full turbo like a champ, too. There are some lower powered versions with SLI capabilities, but those are kind of pointless sincle 980M SLI is so stout. NVIDIA has so way too many different variations of this GPU to the point that it seems kind of stupid. I am concerned that some of them may end up being a botched abortion like 880M was. But, this one sure works great.

And, this 1080P 75Hz IPS display with G-SYNC looks so stinking amazing I can hardly stand it, LOL.

excellent choice. 230w is barely enough for 6700k and 980m when oc'ed. you won at life.

im gonna head over to techinferno and take a look at the pictures again, this laptop has so much class, especially the dual fan heatsink.

Firstly, as I mentioned in an earlier post I have canceled this order as I am waiting for the Phoenix P870DM-G

Secondly, how could you beat that price? from where? Mind you I live in Dubai. XOTIC PC will not ship internationally for PayPal orders, only wire transfers which I will not do. HIDevoluiton was the only place which accepts PayPal for international orders and they have one of the best warranty support I've heard

So far I am not happy, I called twice already to ask why is my order still showing "Processing" if they had already received the stock. I was told that my laptop actually arrived. Well great! Let me know at least! I don't like it when companies keep you in the dark until you have to call yourself to check. I know they are probably busy and have other orders, but for such a high end system with a price tag near 6K USD, the least I expected is regular updates... sigh....

If they had just got them in it may take a while on delivery day to get them all sorted and the paper work squared away.

For $6k USD, I'd also expect better service.

Damn that's a nice system, I guess I could afford it if I sold off one of my kids...

Exactly, I just called again and expressed how unhappy I am. I told them this is a 6K build and it's been 48 hours and nothing has been done yet! Origin PC shows you how your system is being built via a live stream while these guys just keep me in the dark.

What we have decided to do now is for them to start the build and once they have the OS installed I would login to my system remotely so I can configure it the way I want disabling telemetry and all Win 10 privacy invasion stuff then once we're done with everything they will set it to an OOBE state

You have patience I simply don't have. I ordered my machine yesterday, and if I don't receive it tomorrow or Thursday at the latest I'm going to start seeing red.

Negative, I'm the most impatient person in the world. But I am kinda stuck now, my money is with them, if I were to cancel the order, wait another 5-7 days to get the funds back to place it with someone else, then wait on that someone else to build it, it's gonna take even longer. So I just bit it but I told them when I called now this is not the way to do business and this will affect my review. When someone places an order for such an expensive machine, he deserves to feel that he is treated with some sort of priority / keep getting updates. I've had to call 3 times so far just to ask why hasn't the build started yet if they have my system? Thank God there is Skype otherwise those calls would've been expensive international calls.

I have a similar issue whenever the person at the drive thru window asks me to pull forward and wait. Hopefully it comes in soon!

Nice! That's an awesome compound. Dangerous (to the laptop) if not handled/applied with care, but excellent in heat transfer.

I told the system builder (a very nice girl) to ensure that she only connects the first Samsung 950 PRO into M.2 SSD Slot 1 to only have one drive while installing Windows because Windows has this stupid habit of placing the boot files on the 2nd drive if it detects one. Luckily, CLEVO labels the slots so there was no guess work to do as to which one is slot 1 and which is slot 2!

BTW, the system builder told me that CLEVO ships the machines barebone the only thing they preinstall is the GPU(s) but the rest all is installed by them (RAM, CPU, SSDs, etc)

At the moment, she is booting off the USB Flash disk in UEFI mode for OS installation:
