    Hey.

I am ordering Sager laptop soon and wanted to know which screen has got good reviews. Both of them are 1080p screen, but I want to know which one is good matte or glare?

I like matte because no reflections, but does that mean that it loses quality and color as compared to glare?

I want to get best quality for pictures, videos, everything else......which would be better matter or glare?

I have tried to search in this forum, but some topics I found were very technical so simple wordings would be appreciated :)

15.6" FHD 16:9 "Glare Type" Super Clear Ultra Bright LED Glossy Screen w/ 95% NTSC Color Gamut (1920x1080)

15.6" FHD 16:9 "Matte Type" Super Clear Ultra Bright LED Anti-Glare Screen w/ 95% NTSC Color Gamut (1920x1080)

    Thanks

Many do say the glossy is a little more vibrant in color display. However the MATTE seems to be the favorite for those using the laptop for school and work related apps because of wanting no refections.

Yes it is a individual decision for one to make. :)

I went with the Matte because it was heavily recommended to me around here, and it looks amazing! I don't think you could be disappointed by either one though.

Don't mean to hijack this thread but can anyone tell me the color gamut of the standard LCD screen that comes on the p170hm?

The stock screen is 72% color gamut, while the upgraded model is 90%.

It will make your colors more saturated because of the higher color gamut, and will probably have an effect on white point as well.

are these screens something i will have to keep calibrating over and over? or is that just for the very best results? i'm intrigued by the more saturated/truer colors but am certainly not a photographer by any means. would just like my games and movies to look as good as possible while playing :) thanks for all the comments thus far.

one of the good things i like about matte is you can set the brightness to the lowest level and not worry about glare.

i ******* love my matte screen it destroys my $400 comp screen. If anyone tells you the matte makes the colors less vibrant then dont listen, the colors are amazing it truely makes a diffence when i play coh on my laptop compared to my comp.

I want to go with matte but it's only 72%, that's why I go with 15'' screen, 95%+matte.

Yeah im sticking with the 17in. Wish there was a higher gamut matte screen than 72% listed.

Also, can anyone comment; are theseyou higher gamutgamut screens something that will have to be calibrated over and over or just once and your good?

If you're a professional photographer, you may want to invest in an item like the Spyder 3 Elite to calibrate over its lifetime. If you're a regular gamer and movie watcher, once should be enough, but isn't really a requirement. The calibration is usually something software-based, so you'll need to back up your calibration profile and reinstall it if you reformat and reload Windows. You can also tweak the screen using the Nvidia/AMD utility depending on the video card.

I read a review yesterday that had both the glossy and mat right next to it for the Apple laptops and from what I could see / enlarge there is little difference.

If you are in a dark room with nothing that can reflect then you would notice some difference between mat and glare, if not and anywhere else then mat is good enough and you can use it where there is a light on or in the living room or during the day with the sun shinning into the room vs glossy / glare and you are pretty much trapped in a toilet / basement / dungeon with the lights off and then your wifi / routers / modem light's will still reflect and annoy you.

This is my experience, once you go mat you never go back. + you don't have all the dust on the screen and fingerprints and other stuff that you need to clean and polish away every 15 seconds, it can drive you mad very quickly.
Mat can be cleaned once a day or once a week at most, sometimes even once a month.

This is just my experience with a new Apple laptop glare vs gaming laptop mat.

You can always buy the 90% gamut glossy screen and get a matte screen cover for about $20.

Matte all the way, baby. I've taken a vow to never buy another glossy screen. I do photo work on my Sager and that matte finish is awesome. Also, for movie watchers, matte is more like watching a movie on the big screen. Have you ever been to a movie theatre that had a glossy screen??? of course not! :)

Is there any higher that 72% gamut 17in matte screens out there? I remember reading on another thread on here that some IP something or another screens were being talking about coming out back in february of this year. Anyone know wth i'm talking about and if that has actually happened?

Thanks for that link Malibal. I found the thread i was thinking about and it was speaking about a 17in IPS screen that Clevo retailers were expecting to come out in May of this year. Is that the AUO B173HW01 V.5?

Now I guess I just have to decide between the 90% glossy or the 72% matte....decisions decisions.

I have a Clev0 W150HRM (PCSpecialist Optimus 2x) with ordinary matte screen, I bought mine a little before they received their stock of 95% screens.

How can I tell exactly which panel is in my machine? PC Wizard called the Product ID AUO13ED. I'd like to know if the gamut is 60% or 72%. Although whatever it is I'm so happy I went with matte.

I'm now also considering buying the 95% model from them and having it fitted.

You're gonna be happy. I have the 95% gamut gloss and it is wonderful. I had a matte screen from Dell XPS m1530. While the older laptop is dated, this screen is something else. Still get strained eyes adjusting to the 1080p on a 15'' laptop though. But the colors are vibrant and overall very happy. Not really even that much glare in bright-lit room, although I had a little trouble doing outside work. I couldn't be happier :)

I ordered the 1080P screen with matte finish for my P150HM and I cannot complain. I was a PC user previous to owning this laptop and this is the best LCD panel I've ever owned... I had a 24" 1080P Samsung LCD that was great but doesn't compare to this screen.

Actually the 72% MATTE is absolutely beautiful. So many are liking this display!

That being said, yes you will really like the glossy 90%... :)

is there seriously a large noticeable difference. I went ahead and ordered the 95$ glossy for my np8150 but now i'm wondering if my money could have been better spent otherwise.

Do you mean 95% glossy? That panel will have great color, and reflect light easily. Matte hardly reflects light at all. It's a pretty big difference between Matte and Glossy, and a pretty big difference between 95% and stock panels.

    TL;DR It's a good use of money.

    I have used all screens;

Original glossy, 95% glossy, and the 95% matte.

Color-wise, the 95% glossy is the most vibrant, with remarkable brightness.

I do prefer the matte, as it is a bit less bright than the 95% glossy, and there are no reflections as well.

Your money was well spent, IMO the best in terms of screen quality(contrast, brightness), the 95% glossy is number 1.

I'd be willing to make sacrifices to get a matte screen. Cost, brightness, whatever. Why do people squint and get headaches looking at a screen? A lot of people don't know it, but a significant part is reflections from a glossy screen.

That comes down to the individual though. I personally can't stand matte screens because I find that I have more eye strain from them on a normal work day than a glossy. There are quite a few factors involved, so it really comes down to what is most comfortable for each person.
