So, after 2 Asus G73 failures i decided to try a Clevo. :)

It's probably going to be an X8100 with dual HD5870m's.

I've been reading about it in this forum for quite some time now to make sure it doesn't have any serious issues.

As of now i could only find a thread about Powerplay nog working properly on the HD5870m GPU's.

Because i'm new to Clevo i'd like to ask some veterans if they know any issues with the Clevo X8100.

    Thanks in advance!

I'm buying it from Notebooktotaal.nl | Scherpe prijzen, Degelijk advies, Top service! -- XXODD / BTO Shop since i live in Europe.
The Clevo X8100 is rebranded as 'XXODD XNi-8100'.
I did a lot of research to see if this reseller was a good choice. Judging from the email and telephone conversations i had with them this sellers seems trustworthy.

If you go to the 8100 owners lounge you will see some people who just purchased this monster with the duel 5870 cards, are having what sounds like the very same issues the alienware people had. Stuttering video while gaming. I think one person posted a video of it. If not you can find it on youtube. I was about to purchase one, but their problems stopped me dead in my tracks. I would rather wait for a problem free lappy then be dissatisfied and return it. I'm hoping that either the just released GTX 460, or 470 will be offered (Eurocom is offering them) with the 8100, I don't recall the SLI set up having the same problem. It seems the problem is with the crossfire dual cards. Disabling one card, I think solves the problem, but if that is the case then why buy two cards.

Alexrose1uk bought it from Kobalt and after a few dealys because of the issues and testing some kind of new BIOS that is what he reported.
Make sure you either get it from the country where you live or buy from reseller who offers "Pick up and Return" warranty.
http://stylenote.eu/contents/en-uk/p31.html is already offering the new nvidia cards, but it's 400 euros plus and I am not sure that the latest BIOS supports it.

@ Scanner: I've searched for the problem you described and it seems to be a rare issue, some people say it's driver related, restoring the driver to factory defaults and/or turning off Catalyst A.I. seems to fix it.

@ kalawera: I did choose for the Pick up and Return warranty so in case that there is something wrong i can send it back pretty easily.
About the nVidia cards, since my budget is quite limited (€2000) i'm afraid that the nVidia cards are a no-go. But on the bright side: dual HD5870m's still have plenty of power to run about any game on High (no AA of course).

I'll let you know how mine goes. The issues could be hardware or software related (dodgy secondary card/cable etc), given the report from Kobalt I'm hoping mine will be fine (I've saved up enough karma now with the amount of duff units from various people I've had).
Either way I should have it Thursday, although Im hoping I can organise to get hold of it tomorrow.

There's no guarantee that SLI systems won't have issues. We (AW owners) had stuttering only with Nvidia cards in SLI. No latency was observed with CF. There were different issues with vBios and drivers but those are fixed now, AFAIK.
