Hello... I have been looking to get a new comp... I currently have an Alienware M7700 that is on its last legs... (will never buy AW again btw)... so I have been looking at the NP5796. I had a few questions... I have never used vista... so whats the difference between the home edition and the ultimate edition? which one should I go with?... How is the cooling on this? I have also heard that the fans are lound... but I can't imagine it being louder then my m7700 which sounds like a jet engine. Also... do you think this machine would be a better purchase then the 2096? considering I don't really play crysis... all I really need is to be able to play starcraft 2 which is coming out next year lol.

HA! I bought my system just to play SC2 as well lol... Man I can't wait.

Just get the 5793 a lot cheaper and basically as good. Will be perfect for the latest games and SC2.

Ultimate has extra gizmos and gadgets in it, which I like. It also has the features of home premium and business in it. You can find a comparison of features on Microsofts web site. Performance wise, they perform the same.

IMO, the NP5796 is many times more powerful than the 2096. But its also heavier. Battery life is about the same. Its also more expensive.

so assuming you arn't interested in the added gizmos and gadgets, and merely inerested in performance, speed, game play, etc, ultimate would be kinda a waste of money?

ya, basically, but don't go anything less than Home Premium. 64-bit preferred if you have 4GB.
