I was also ready to purchase a Segar notebook today but all the newer ones seem to have been taken down. Can somebody please clarify what exactly is going on? I am hearing speculations and potential reasons as to why these models are being pulled but no detailed answers, information, or recommendations. I am noticing that this is affecting other notebook brands as well but mostly Sager and have been hearing that they may or may not be[ getting new GPU's
As much as I love anticipation and excitement of new games and toys, Notebooks and PC's are not just a toy for me. Yes, I am looking for cool features, best game play, light-up keyboards, ext.., but I am also a professional Comp Science student and professional contractor who relies on a good computer. I have spent the last two weeks specing out and researching each one of these models (specifically NP9380 or NP9390) and was ready to drop $5000.00 today just to find out that they have been pulled. Now all that is left is older models that I am not interested in, or the option to wait and see IF these models will come back, or IF there will be new but similar models to what I am looking for, and how long the wait will actually be.
I am on a older laptop that is on it's last legs and the majority of my school is online and so is my work. Time is money and something I do not have the luxury to wait around for. For the amount of money that myself and other consumers are willing to spend on these laptop options, one would think that there would be more transparency of what is going on with these companies and their decisions behind their products and actions. (I don't feel like much of a valued customer.)
Of all the forums that I have read regarding this issue there have not been any definitive answers, just more questions. My major questions that I would like answered are; Will these models (specifically NP9380 or NP9390 or certain MSI's) be returning and if so how long until they are back? (For back-order answers, It is now currently mid-march and there should now be a date or news), Will there be different models with the same features, including design, to replace the old ones? (Sager, I'm looking at you), Will the retail sites or manufacturers be offering additional discounts or sales for those of us who have been forced to wait (Not including additional build times.), I would hope at the very least that international shipping costs would be a covered courtesy, as I am going to Canada in a few weeks and now because of this wait I will be forced into spending even more to get the computer to my location. Or should I perhaps be looking at other options and retail outlets?
Any help, advice, or recommendations would be greatly appreciated as I need a new notebook fast. Thank you.

Unfortunately because of NDA you wont be able to get solid yes/no answers. Once we can say things for certain we will, just check out a couple other threads and you should be able to put it together pretty quickly.

I'm with Djsilverline on this.
I've never heard of a company pulling practically ALL of their products off the market until a "new" version is released. Imagine if Toyota stopped selling cars in November/December because the new models were coming out in January? -
Guys, the car industry has little to do with the PC industry. There are deadlines, which declare when a certain configuration becomes EOL (end of life). In the interest of the customer, the reseller pulls the "old" tech off the shelves and prepares to launch the new hardware, which is a good thing since you are in the market for high-performance notebooks! The new stuff is ALWAYS better than last-year's.
This might not be the case with cars, however (hell there are 20-year old car models that are better built than what's being offered today).
Same stuff with the audio and sound systems - amps from 20 years ago generally sound better, are more robust and whatnot.
But with the PC's, old stuff is just not in the customer's best interest. When they pull it off the list, that means new stuff is coming really really soon (most times in the matter of days or a week) and you should be happy, you get to choose from some cool next-gen hardware right there! -
I can help you out a bit here. nVidia is releasing the first of the 800m series of mobile GPU's, so NP9390 and NP9380 pulled for the revamp. The resellers can't talk about it due to NDA. From what I have read it looks like the GTX 860m is running a tad faster than a GTX 770m with much lower power requirement. I am tempted to run SLI 860m if that works out.
This is the leaked information you are looking for. We will know a lot more tomorrow after the NDA expires.

And... an entire thread on this forum about the topic.
