In the Clevo Guide it says you shouldn't charge your battery when it's at 100%, but rather should let it go down to 50% and then charge it back up. So do I have to keep unplugging and repluggin my computer while I'm using it? That seems rather inconvenient. Is there a way to tell it to just run on the AC power and not the battery?

For most notebooks, to run on AC without a battery you need to to start it up on AC with the battery, then remove the battery after it's booted. But you should check your particular system manufacturer's site to be positive that's the procedure for yours.
All manufacturers also have Performance Tips on how to keep your battery in the best shape. Remember that any "Guide" is just that - a guide. It's not gospel or a strict procedure for your system. It's a reference only. -
its not about overcharging... its the lack of giving the battery power cycles... to keep it healthy.
leaving it at 100% all the time (or vice versa at 0%) would wear down the age of the battery life.
all in the Battery Guide as well. -
So do you constantly unplug and replug the power when you're using the laptop? That seems really inconvenient. Is there a program that can shut of the charging automatically or something?

I never worry about mine, I leave it plugged in for days at a time. I drain it right down to zero, sometimes to 50% or 90%. The battery has been in mine since I recieved it.
I use Battery bar and so far it still tells me that the wear on my battery is the same 1.4% that it was when I first recieved it. 64217mWh out of 65120mWH, I still get about 1h50min from a full charge, so until I see those numbers change I'm gonna keep not caring about it.
I bought my laptop to use it, if the battery goes to sh@t then I buy a new one. -
Oshiruko no you don't have to plug and unplug laptop when using it maybe your laptop will find pleasure in the plugging/replugging excersize still I haven't found a notebook being able to come.
I'd say unplug your laptop once every 2 weeks or so and let the battery drain then replugging at least that's what i do and I have experienced a lazy battery one of my laptops is able to stay awake 15 mins w/o the powerplug in. -
Mine is plugged in all the time. About once a week I'll unplug and let it drain. I make a point of doing this just before I travel as a fresh cycle seems to help batterly life (very important on an airplane)
