Hey'all, still on a mission to find the best deal for a M860TU and I recently stumbled upon Overclockers UK

And all I can say is - finally someone with similar to US prices over here!

Before anyone suggests the obvious - such as the laptop only having a GTS and P8600 maximum, they are still updating and plan to sell those soon too.

Now, I've noticed they're not on Gophn's FAQ and wondered if anyone can tell me of any experiences buying from them.

Thanks again, would have put this in the old thread about European resellers but this forum is busy with new threads, it's hard to find!

Hehe, thanks Willy. I originally got the link from a thread you posted in! Good to hear about the positive feedback. I thought they quite popular but no-one here seems to have heard of them.

I'm also a bit confused about the uncompetitive pricing comment. The price of the Ultima/Titan 15" (M860TU) is the cheapest I've seen it sell anywhere outside of the US!

I'm seriously considering getting it from there when they put all the options up.

They are popular for desktops, and untill recently they only stocked "run of the mill" laptops. Still though, from what i've seen, it's hard to find a good priced gaming laptop outside of the us...
These guys seem pretty good to:

    £1000 seems like a good deal for a 9800m GT :)

cizmo are not cheaper than either kobolt or deviltech.
Much more expensive than either of them for the same configured system. They only look cheaper if you go for the very basic configuration, each upgrade costs too much.
All the above for the 15.4" model.

nice find guys. at least the uk market has got a few more places to chose from now.
after my m15x experience my main issue now is the technical support and how much the phone call will cost if i was ever to need it. all i can say is the amount of time i spent on the phone to AW is thank god it was a free phone number.

Yes, good company. Reliable, ship quickly, goods very well packed.
I purchased twice from them, once an X-Fi Xtreme Music a year ago and last November an 8800GT.

    Hi Guys,

I have just registered here after lurking in this sager thread for a while :)

I also preordered a M860TU from OCUK last week.
Have bought from them many times before. Their service is pretty good and the forums are handy if you are having trouble with anything

Wow, so many Clevo posts, buried this that I never got to respond. To business:

No worries, I started lurking around their forum a few nights ago after I first heard of the Ultima. Gonna join today to tell them to get their butts in gear with their pricing. It differs from page-to-page. They raised the price but by how much - if it's by the £300 quoted I'm going back to Kobalt or Deviltech.

Anyway, expect to see me bring it up on the OCuk boards, I've never been one for lurking too long if somethings not right...

Agree with BlueMak. They would be brilliantly-priced, just as cheap as OCUK if it weren't for that extra £19 TAX to add on. ;)

Good to hear so much good feedback. I think that's it, as soon as they add those extra options (Come on GT & P9500) then I'm gonna buy from them. Well, if the price stays low. :)

EDIT: Just realized why those prices are way higher than they were. The Blu-Ray drive comes as standard but can be knocked off for a normal DVD-RW Combo and thus knock a cool £210 off the pricetag too.

    Hey there!
I've also managed to find the Clevo M860TU at overclockers and the price seems good, I just want to know what you guys think of their customer service, if you encountered any problems and whether or not OCUK were helpful etc. And finally would you recommend them?
    Thanks in advance :)

just comparing their website with others in the uk and the price is a little cheaper BUT it only lets you configure the processor, ram,HD & operating system. once you add all the extra bits like graphics card, and warranty they are all roughly the same.

Hey 5777, you're on the OCUK forum are you not?

I have been unable to sign up as I don't use a server-based email addy. Would you be able to ask them some q's for me? I was about to buy one but then they announced that they would be doing 500GB HDD's as well as the P9500. How long is it going to take them to get them in do you think and how much do you think they'll be?

Sorry, not strictly talking about your new laptop there. Glad to hear it's such a good machine. Any in game clocking tests yet?

Eh? What the? The Graphics card and warranty is included in the base price.

    Thanks for the replies :)
MrDJ: the base price does include the warranty and the 9800GTS graphics card.
I've also been looking at Kobalt, but the prices are higher there, however I know that their customer service is great and should there be any problems I am confident they would be able to sort it out.....just who to pick?!?!

hey oaid , the p9500 is in stock i got one myselfit costs 95 pounds more than the base p8400, and the 500 gb drives are probably in already but oull have to ask, ocuk have more options than they display... the only problem is that they are out of barebone stock and a member on the ocuk forum asked when they would be expecting them and ocuk just replied : soon ie they are not 100 percent soon when the next shipment will be but from my understanding everything else is in stock

edit: as for in game tests, fps wise results are identical to the gt i tested out cod4 and got 50 -70 fps depending on the level all on high 1680 and aax4

Hi sorry to bump an old thread but I was wondering if anyone who bought an Ultima Mobile 15.4" (Clevo M860TU) notebook from overclockers and if they have had any issues with it since?

    Thanks.

I've bought a Ultima Mobile from OcUK in November, haven't had any problems with it. However, I do have a stuck pixel, but other customers have reported perfect screens, guess I was one of the unlucky few xD

Customer service is alright, seem like a friendly bunch. I usually hang around the forums, which is a great place to spread knowledge.

A thread, resurrected from the dead! One I never expected to see again. Good news to all those wondering if I did buy from Overclockers in the end!

And just set the record straight. Their customer service quality is very sharp, though I'm not exactly sure if buyer-friendly is the right word. For example, they definitely don't go out there way for extra requests like I imagine Kobalt does. I wanted them to change the brand of the HDD and they wouldn't do it due to a delivery error! in the end I'm going to have to swap the HDD's myself. Hopefully it'll be worth it. Plus, I actually got my laptop two weeks earlier than expected which is more than I can say for most m15x owners.

Hey Shadows1990, was it the weekly offer plus the lower VAT that did it for you? It certainly was for me. The only time you could get a competitive price to go alongside the prices US customers were getting! :D

I won't be posting the spec yet as I still haven't got a good OS and I'm still changing parts around. Soon though...

I saw that the VAT + price drop happened just after I had purchased it, however, I wasn't too bothered as I felt I had already got it at a very reasonable price.

Hey there I was considering goind for Overclockers but saw the 3.7kg weight spec; called them to check and they confirmed this was accurate ... strange since everyone else says the Clevo weighs in at 3.2 ... I ended up going for another company, a good £100 more expensive, for this reason (don't really want to be lugging around another half kilo, especially after the festive season!). But now I'm 100% certain it's the same model; am having second thoughts, esp. since my promised 3-4 working day delivery has now lagged to 10 days! Any really high recommendatinos for OcUK?

been waiting 3 months for my laptop to be conclusively repaired.
They've ruined my university career. I'm trying to get as much extra stuff from them I can for it, but I'd rather just turn back time.

That deal wasn't a one off by the looks of things. Overclockers tend to rotate their offers as witness to this weeks deal.
Luckily, it's not like they've knocked even more off the total.

I wouldn't really let the 'written' weight difference hinder that choice. It looks like an error. I mean, Overclockers don't put any additions in the model by comparison and they certainly don't attach weights to the thing. Maybe it's the total weight when boxed up with the charger and manuals etc.

I'd be dropping a hissy fit on their doorstep after three weeks. Seriously bud, harrass them till they confirm to send it back.

Thanks for the info. Does the warranty not cover that Shadows1990? I've heard a few horror stories about them but most people I've spoken to have positive things to say. I'll just keep my fingers crossed I guess.

Ordered mine Monday before Christmas, thought there would be a week or 2 lag but it arrived the next day!
Screen is fine, no dead pixels.
I asked them about the weight- reply was "3.2kg for machine, 3.7kg including accessories". I presume accessories is the power brick which is quite heavy.
Installed Vista 64 bit but there are a couple of programs I need which don't run properly so may have to go back to XP.
I've bought from them before without any problems- once had to return a motherboard and waited a while but no response - contacted them and found it was discontinued, so they sent a replacement of similar price/features without any quibbles- would have been nice to be told of the problem without chasing it up , but hey, minor point. I would recommend them.
