    Hi everyone!

I'm currently looking to buy my first Sager laptop. I've built quite a few desktops and overclocked them, but couldn't find how I would go about overclocking the CPU in a laptop since most don't have the BIOS options to do so...

Are there custom BIOSes that allow to do it?

    Cheers.

Not on the P150, you need the P170 + a XM CPU to enable overclocking.

I was also purchasing a P150, so that is good to know. Thanks!

    Thanks for the prompt reply.
How do resellers who offer overclocking on the P150 do it then?

Simply put, they can't. The CPU and bios both don't support overclocking (or if you do have an XM CPU in the P150EM, the chipset still doesn't support it). They might be selling a whole system overclocking option, which means they may only be doing the GPU.

Ah, ok. Then the option has little to no value since GPU overclocking is pretty easy to do within Windows.

    Thanks!

So both np9150 and np9130's are unable to be over clocked?

Can you over clock the below at all? It was my understanding all the sager CPUs were unlocked.

    System configuration:
    Sager NP9130 / Clevo P151EM1

    3rd Generation Intel® Ivy Bridge Core™ i7-3610QM (2.3GHz - 3.3GHz, 6MB Intel® Smart Cache, 45W Max TDP)
    12GB - DDR3 1600MHz Dual Channel Memory (3 SODIMMS)

Negative, you won't be able to OC the CPU on the 9130 either.
You may be able to OC the graphics though.

but you can use turbo boost from intel on these sagers in place of overclocking correct? and yes i know its not the same thing, but it comes close.

Yea they disabled some stuff within the chipset (A little deeper than the BIOS) also (looks almost like an e-fuse) and the BIOS doesn't support it either, the modules are in the BIOS to support XTU otherwise XTU wouldn't even fire up on the P150's and it does, just everything is marked read only and disabled. So yea not quite that easy.

Actually XTU fires up once the watchdog timer driver runs, works even on P170HM3 stock BIOS...the 3 XTU modules are not present in the P150EM along with the necessary links and options.
But bricking a P150EM, let's say a few times daily for around a week, would be mandatory to get it ported from the P170EM...LOL. ;)
