Has anyone had any success overclocking the GPU (nVidia 9600M GT) on a Sager NP2096 notebook?

I'm using the latest Rivatuner 2.11.

The first issue I am having is that Rivatuner shows my default GPU clocks as 400Mhz GPU and 400Mhz Memory. GPU-Z shows my clocks as 500Mhz GPU and 400Mhz Memory.

When I try to OC my GPU, it just "resets" back to 400Mhz after I click Apply and OK.

Anyone out there successful at OCing their GPU with an NP2096?

    BTW, I'm using Vista x64

try different drivers, you might find one out of hundreds that would let you OC if lucky.

Rivatuner does not overclock mobile GPUs. At least not in my experience. Try nVidia System Tools, or try the latest version of NiBiToR and flash your gpu.

Rivatuner does support overclocking GPU, but i haven't had any luck so far on my 9600M GT. Rivatuner and ATItool can't read the right clocks, and nTune either crashes my computer upon installing, or later on.

Doesn't overclock MOBILE gpus. At least not the dozens of different architectures I've tried. Flashing the vBIOS is the most stable and reliable way to go, so long as you do it right. You'll get better speeds this way also.

you probably need a signed driver for RivaTuner, unless RivaTuner's latest version corrects this.

riva tuner does support overclocking of mobile gpu's, i've done it with my 8600M GT to yield some extra performance. Ran almost as well as an 8700M GT.

I've tried the latest Rivatuner 2.11 with both F8 at startup and without. The increased clock speeds just wont stay. It will revert back to default after you click OK.

Just wondering if anyone had any software based overclocking success with 9600M GT?

    Thanks for the replies everyone.

So far I came across 3 different type of notebooks with 9600m GT's... one that isn't locked via bios (thus software oc'able ie w/ ntune), locked video bios, and a locked video bios within the main bios.

Upon researching this, locked video bios's (if not within system bios) can be flashed... video bios within the system bios won't work. In my case, I had a locked video bios so software OC couldnt be done. However, i was able to flash it with higher clock settings. If this is the case with sager, follow these steps...

did that work? I've had the same issue with my Sager 2096 (9600M GT) as well!
