Hey guys, been reading the forums for a while, and finally got around to posting! My D901C is undergoing a final burn in as we speak, and I'm spazzing out. Specifically, I'm trying to map out an overclocking plan. I specified the Q6600 proc (because it overclocks well) and a single 9800M GT. I'm looking to eke out as much performance in real world gaming applications as possible.

First question: should I try and OC the cpu of gpu? @Nirvana, I've seen your sig, and I'm curious as to whether the advantage in the cpu oc via setfsb carries over from the synthetic benchmarks to actual game performance.

Second: how should I go about oc'ing the cpu/gpu? I've heard a lot about setfsb (though it would be nice if there was autoset support for the desktop procs), and the tape/pin mod kind of intrigues me, but I'm not quite sure where to start with the gpu.

Anyways, sorry if this ground has been covered elsewhere in the forums, I tried to find it (honest)! Thanks in advance.

I prefer not overclock Laptops, get as much as you can afford.

Overclock a desktop where you can add fans, watercooling, etc...

BTW there is RIVAtuner for your GPU where you can control all the goodies.

Ya can't OC the D901C. There are no options in BIOS to OC the CPU, nor is there any software that can OC the CPU. You can try doing the Q6600 through a pin mod, but good luck! Poof!!!!

The only cpu oc for the 901c is the pin mod. The gpu can be overclocked by a bios flash using nibitor to alter the clocks. I am not sure if rivatuner or ntune work on the 901c (I don't think they do)

Yeah, so the question is whether or not the new NiBiTor supports the 9800m GT BIOS I suppose... Since the 8800m GTX is essentially the same card, do you reckon a 600 core/1500 shader/950 memory OC would work all right?
