Okay, I've had my 5720 for about 4 weeks now, and so far there isnt a single thing about it im dissapointed with. The most graphically challenging game Ive played on it so far is FarCry, which for most computers is pretty challenging, but not really mine.

I am expecting to get F.E.A.R. from a friend within the next week, and with that I really wanna stretch the legs of my new computer. So I was wondering: those of you that have overclocked your CPU/GPU, approximately how much have you been able to get out of either without causing system instability or risking them overheating?

EDIT: I dont really plan on Overclocking it ri9ght away, I just wanna know about how much I can get from the CPU and GPU and about how much of a difference it will make

You can't overclock your CPU because of your SATA hard drive
you should buy PATA instead then you will get option in Bios to overclock it for 15%.

I read up on this on another forum notebookforums.com and it seems that the pata does enable the oc option in BIOS. So far the laptop im getting (waited longer to save up the extra cash.)

    P-M 2.0
    1GB Memory
    60gb PATA
    7800gtx
no OS (my setup dual boot Fedora & xp-pro)
hissing noise from audio port :D

Yes, the PATA hard drive does indeed enable the BIOS overclock, I believe you can do it up to 15%.

jonny, thanks for posting, let us know how everything turns out.

    Cheers

Any explanation as to why you only have the overclock option with the PATA drive?

I was reading a review of a British rebadged Clevo (Either Evesham or Rock, same as Sager 5270 anyway) and they talked about the overclocking option in the BIOS, even had a screenshot of it with options up to +15%. I don't think it had a PATA drive.

I got a Clevo m570u a month ago and recently upgraded to T7600G processor. If I was to change my SATA to PATA I would then be able to OC in the bios?
Also do I requre any additional components to go form SATA to PATA or are they easily interchaneable.
