I tried to overclock my graphics card with MSI afterburner and it only allows me to overclock to 740 mhz core and 1000 mhz memory.
My idle temps are 51° C and load temps on furmark were 95° C after 4 min(was scared to run the test further)
While playing Crysis and SCII on max settings, max temps are 78°C.
My CPU temps are very nice(42°C idle and 71°C max while running prime 95.

Are these temps normal for the gpu?Room temperature is around 18°C.

You might be able to use the overclocking utility inside of the Catalyst Control Center for more options. 95C does seem a touch higher than it should be...

Anyone see any difference between overclocking with CCC and MSI Afterburner?

Hi, I tried overclocking with AMD Overdrive, settings are locked at 740 mhz and 1000 mhz respectively.
Is there a software restriction or something?Or is the GPU locked?

18'c Room temps are amazingly low room temps, yet your card reaches such high temperatures, meaning that if you were to play in a different room, you would hit 100'c +.

    What is your thermal paste?

Hi, the thermal paste is IC Diamond 7 pasted by the reseller.

Hmm, I have the 6970m but during furmark it only goes up to 67'c in a cool room.

I undervolted, not overclocked, so I think that does play a huge role, but regardless, I would try to repaste it to see if it helps. Also prop the end of your laptop to allow more airflow, or use a notebook cooler.

Yeah,I will try to get a notebook cooler soon.Could you tell me how to undervolt the GPU?

MSI afterburner wont show the core voltage at all,nor will it let me unlock it.

You have to use ATI Tray Tools.

There is a thread about this, if only I can find it..

If he has to get it repasted, shouldn't he take that up with the reseller? Since he paid to have it done, definitely should get a redo or refund...

Don't use furmark to judge GPU temps. No game will ever stress the gpu anywhere near furmark. Prop up the rear of your laptop or use a notebook cooler, that should help with temps.

I am running stock clocks at 72 to 80.
    When running at 800/1000 I get 74 to 82.

Are these decent temps for this card? I know I don't want to be in the 90 range.

Yep, those are great temps. Most are reporting low to mid 80's C under load, so you're definitely where you should be.
