    Hi Guys,

I recently got a Clevo P170EM with the 7970M. I have already gotten the card to 940/1500 using afterburner on stock voltages and was wondering what others are getting for the same card/voltages and what drivers they are using. I'm on the 13.5 beta 3 drivers and would happily change if other drivers gave higher over clocks.

I've been running 975 and 1425 for a while now with no problems. Never changed voltage. 3dmark score is consistently around 7600+. I'm running 13.5 beta 3.

The limit varies a lot from card to card. I'd also advise you to try different settings. Some games may benefit from higher core clocks (like 1030/1200), others from high memory clocks (960/1560). Keep an eye out for that increased temperature ;)

Test core and memory individually to get an idea of what each can do.

Temps don't seem to be much of an issue. At 931/1500 playing tomb raider it chugs along happily at 65 degrees.

Just I read a few posts where people had the 7970M running at 1000/1500 which would be awesome to have myself but even at the current OC's it's still a very capable card. Maybe I will experiment with custom voltages etc later on but for now best money ever spent!!! :D

Currently I'm running 13.5 beta 3 drivers, and they have the best overclock ability so far. Performance vise it seems same compared to lets say 13.4 whql. I can now overclock to 1070/1600 on stock volatage, but thats just for benchincg. I foud a good compromise for gaming at 950/1450 for gaming which I'm running 24/7 with temps max around 80.
    Heres a 3d mark run with 1070/1560 -- 8013 pts on GPU

Overclcok to 1560, apply. close MSI afterburner, then open again and you can move the sliders further..

I'm using the older MSI afterburner 2.2.1. Maybe its becouse of that. I remember that in some older driver releases I had issues with the never MSI afterburner so I just kept this one and its working fine. Except fot double fps readyn on some games ( max payne, crysis 3, metro: last light). If you wont find it on the web send me a pm, I'll send you the instalation paccage

    Hi try that:

ULPS is controlled via a registry value named "EnableULPS" located under the "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Video" key, it can be disabled by setting the value to 0 or enabled with 1.

Change value to 0 and restart your laptop, see if you can change values now.

Thanks for the replys guys. I'm wondering if the fact my 7970M is the 2gb VRAM version that comes with clevos is the reason I can't push the clocks past 940/1500 without either bluescreening or the display drivers becoming unresponsive? At any rate even at 940/1500 I was able to play crysis 3 with everything maxed bar the textures ( had to run them at high to get 30+ fps).

There is not a 4GB 7970M AFAIK, but it would make no difference to the clocks.

Every single chip every produced has its own characteristics depending on hundreds of different factors over the massively complex process that went into creating it.

Definitely not. vRAM largely is meant for storing the framebuffer, and 2 GB is ample for gaming and even some professional software.

4GB is needed in multi card, multi display setups ;)

No, that command wont work on switchable (and professional) cards.
