    Hi Everyone,

Was asking myself about the need of new thermal paste instead the original one if I overclock the 7970M on my Laptop.

    I pre-ordered this : P150EM - I7-3610QM, 7970M, 8 Go 1600Mz, SSD 256Go, Intel 6300 Ultimate.

I plan to Overclock the GPU on stock volts (950/1350). Is this necessary to go for higher quality thermal paste ?

    Thx for replies.

It's a good idea to use higher quality thermal paste even on stock clocks, really. I (as well as most people here, probably) would recommend it whether you're overclocking or not.

That IC Thermal Diamond Compound, is one of the best options out there. I believe it will lower you an extra 5-10 degrees from the stock, which is pretty good. If you're still on order, I'm sure you can change it. Or if you are certain about doing it yourself, you could probably buy a tube for that much; but as I said before in another thread, if you apply too much or too little, many issues can occur.

Actually, im still on order but i don't have any option for thermal paste ! (pcw.fr reseller). I still don't know if i go for the IC Thermal Diamond or Artic MX-2. Are theses pastes for both GPU and CPU ?

I actually got a lower temperature when I used MX-2 but it was just 1*C.

IC Diamond seems better as I checked topics about temperatures on 7970M overclocks.
