    For some reason, my GPU fan does not work. I am sure it is not damaged and working fine, I plugged it to CPU's socket and it worked just fine, it doesn't get any commands. It was working fine last night. How can I fix this?
    My laptop also shuts down if I use GPU, even in BIOS screen. But I think that's because overheating.
    Edit: An exciting thing happened, it's -probably- not overheating, I started furmark without testing to activate the GPU, laptop turned off after 30 seconds. GPU temperature was 50C after restarting. I can't say anything about VRAM temps, it doesn't have any sensors.
    Edit 2: I remembered one time when I stopped the fan while furmark was open, same thing also happened there. It's not about overheating, it's happening because GPU recognises fan doesn't spin and turns PC off. But it doesn't give fan any commands.

    If the fan is having issues in one slot then it could be a damaged connector.

    Could be, but I haven't done anything or dropped the laptop. It was working yesterday while I was trying to determine the problem (that's why I couldn't find the problem after testing every part, it simply vanished), so it's not damaged. Maybe there's a short circuit. I ordered thermal paste and pad, I will completely disassembly and reassembly the laptop after getting those. It sometimes works, I solved a problem with my desktop by just loosening a screw.

    I will talk to reseller tomorrow.

    Or by reseating a connector that's not reliable ;)

    Nope, didn't fix it. Connector is not the issue.

    Edit: I called my reseller. They said "send it over and we will take a look". I'll see what's the problem in 20 days and hope they don't say user error.

    Well the connector could be worn out now or there could be an electrical problem with it, if the fan is happy to work in another slot it is fine.

    I'm leaning towards the electrical discrepancy theory, here. In any case, the reseller should be able to figure it out pretty quickly for you. :) Keep us posted!

    I was going to update after testing, but apparently I'm lazier than I thought. I didn't leave the house to buy a smaller screwdriver for leaving the heatsink on VRAM. It appears that I accidentallied my 7970M ;_;
    Clevo's heatsink does not transfer heat properly, because it does not apply pressure properly. But applying thermal paste on metal cage somehow fixes this problem. Last time I changed it, I applied too much, I noticed and ignored it because I didn't want to remove and reapply. Card stopped working after a month.
    Thankfully, this heatsink is better than the old one, at least temperature change when I apply pressure myself is 5C, not 20C and those two seperate radiators don't have any gap between them.

    Do not ask how much I paid. This is probably the most expensive small mistake I will ever do in my life, it cost more than crashing my car.

    You do have to be very careful with the pad placement as the VRMs do get hotter than the core.
