    Hi ppl,
After much argument with two stores here in Portugal, which claim that Clevo doesn't offer matte option to the P150EM only to the P170EM...
I need some information about the stock screen on these models, can someone please complete the following information:

    P150EM
Stock glossy: LG LP156WF1-TLC1 (LGD01E9) - Thanks to gkrules
Stock matte: LG Philips (LGD02D9) with +-60% color - Thanks to vuman619

    P170EM
    Stock glossy - Options:
    - Chi Mei N173HGE-L21 - Thanks to cshaw71
    - Hannstar HSD173PUW1 (60% Gamut) - Thanks to The Wizard

    Stock matte - Options:
    - Chi Mei N173HGE-L11 (CMO1720) with 72% color - Thanks to vuman619
    - AUO B173HW01 V5 - Thanks to vellonese and Alterac

If someone doesn't know how to get this information, please use HWiNFO (Tab Monitor).

    Thank you in advance,
    Best Regards to all

I believe the stock glossy for the P170EM is the Chi Mei N173HGE-L21

I'm also pretty confused over the part names of the stock screens offered by Sager. I've heard many different things about the stock matte for the p170em (Some say it's 60% NTSC, some say 72%).

I also just noticed that in the description specifications section of the Sager website, they mention a 17.3" 120Hz 3D Ready Full HD (1920x1080) LED-Backlit Display features 72% NTSC Color Gamut in Matte Finished Screen
custom gaming laptops - Welcome to Sager Notebooks
However this is not available as a customization option yet.

I will let you know what screen the +$30 Matte option is. I have 3 laptops to check it out on.

1 of them is an AUO but i cant remember the exact model number at work here.

I called my reseller and they confirmed with me that the matte screen on the P170Em is a 72% gamut matte option. Only the stock P150Em come with the 60% gamut matte. Though YMMV.

Seems odd to me how Xotic and Malibal offer both the stock matte (+30$) and the Chimei N173HGE-L11 72% NTSC Matte Display (+149$), when these both appear to be the same screen....

I think you need to put down more options for the P170EM.

Imho, I beleive the Two Stock Screens are 60%, then you have the two 72% Upgrades (Glossy, and Matte), Along with a 95% Glossy Upgrade.

I will be good to get everyone with a P170EM to post what they have, how much they paid for hte upgrade, and the actual screen that they got :D

The Matte Upgrade +$30 from Malibal that I have, is the AUO B173HW01 V5
, I have not been able to check the other two laptops I received yet. I will upgrade this post when I do check them, Hopefully Tomorrow Night.

My P170EM stock is 72% gamut, there is no upgrade option, only to 90% Glossy. The P150EM comes stock 60% with the 95% gamut glossy/matte upgrade option.

Malibal also offers the AUO B173HW01 V5 for an extra 149$, alongside the stock matte and the Chi Mei. So either the stock matte is a different panel or one of the 149$ upgrades is a ripoff...

I got 3 Laptops, with the +$30 LCD Upgrade to MATTE, through Malibal (which was quick and good service imho, no issues with them)

Before I switched to the $30 option, I asked on their forums which screen we would get, they answered Chi Mei, Auo, or LG depending on stock.

    I received:
    2x AUO B173HW01 V5
    1x Chi Mei 173HGE

    All 3 look great imho.

So you don't notice any difference between the screens?
I just find it strange how they would charge $149 extra to choose which screen you want while chances are you'll get the same model if you opt for the regular 30$ upgrade....
All 3 options are 72% NTSC, right?

I have a stock glossy NP9150. HWiNFO has two models for me for some reason. It says I have a LG LP156WF1-TLC1, and right above it, it says LGD01E9. IT says it was manufactured in 2009.

60% is the stock display color gamut, and depending on builder/reseller Hannstar MIGHT be stock. Generally, I believe Sager NP9170 comes with the glossy display standard.

Yes, as stated above, 60% is the stock color gamut so the 72% would certainly be an upgrade.

Sager displays are 60Hz stock. The 120Hz displays are supposed to be designed with the intent of use for 3D with glasses required to utilize the 3D.

i saw both stock and 90% glossy screen spec state "262K color by 6 bit R.G.B", so why one is 60% and one is 90%?

Yeah they have been for the most part. I know mine is and I am very happy with it. However "stock" is a misnomer as the stock is the glossy and it is 60% gammut. The $30 optional matte is 72% and for some reason some resellers seem to have the same model for $149 as an upgrade from the base matte.

Really wish I got the stock matte now...I heard that it was 72% gamut but then I was like makes no sense that resellers would charge 119 extra dollars for 72% gamut upgrade if the 30 dollar one was already 72% gamut.....guess I was wrong

    That sucks :(.

I don't know why some builders/resellers present the options like that without telling you the stock is already 72% NTSC. Seems kinda shady to me :/

xoticpc told me that it was sager that told them the stock matte option was 60% gamut, so it's just a slight miscommunication I suppose. :/ still can't help but feel I would've gotten the same screen laptop 5 days quicker and 110 dollars cheaper.... x.x

For reference, I recently received an NP9170 from Xotic with the $149 matte upgrade. Got Chi Mei N173HGE (CMO1720).

The screen is a tad sparkly, especially on whites. I've had a matte desktop monitor before, it didn't look like that. The desktop monitor screen texture (like, touching it) was slightly rough and didnt appear to have a special coating. This laptop display, on the other hand, almost feels like a glossy screen that's been treated with an anti glare coating.

Hello everyone. I just wanted to clear up a few things.

Unless the screen is AUO it is not > 66% Color Gamut.

Sager uses Chimei screens which are 60% Color Gamut for the 17.3" and 66% for the 15.6"

You did not waist your money if you ordered the 72% Matte screen. If the company sold you an AUO.

If you purchased an AUO B173HW01 V5 screen you got 72% Color Gamut, far better viewing angles, and a much clearer screen. By clear I mean the screen isn't as "Grainy" as the stock screen.

If you plan to upgrade to the 72% screen, call your reseller and ensure that they're using the AUO B173HW01 V5.

I've read some reviews of the 17" screen being grainy, I take it that they were talking about the Chi Mein $30 matt upgrade? Has anything changed since this post, i.e. are some people still getting the AUO screen for $30? I'm talking about the 9170 to be clear.
