As you are aware that this 2 models have an iGPU, the problem in my case is that nvflash couldn't find my GTX675M, has anyone managed to dump their dGPU VBIOS in DOS mode?

I remember the VBIOS dumped from GPU-Z on the GTX400/500 compatibility check on Nibitor was never green. Will likely brick the card if you use the one dumped using GPU-Z.

cant hurt to just try it with the 675M vbios ^^ if its still not green then u can still continue searching for alternatives :)

Well I actually just checked it using Nibitor 6.06 and it's green on the 675M dumped using 0.6.2 :p . Now the problem comes, how do I flash the VBIOS on to the card if nvflash doesn't find? :D

Ok nvflash 5.95.0.1 doesn't work. But nvflash 5.105 worked. Sucessfully dumped too. Have to include -i0 to specify the GPU to dump or errors will pop.

good stuff, congratz :) btw, what is this for? ^^ if its just about OCing, u could have done it way easier with either MSI afterburner or Nvidia Inspector. or do u want to overvolt as well?

Actually it's the opposite, undervolting. I'm not very happy about the stock temp at the moment, so I'm working my way up to there :D.

    Sure :D.

This is the Furmark temp after 10min at stock voltage 0.87, jumping back and forth between 88C and 91C.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And this is the Furmark temp after 10min at 0.85, same again, jumping back and forth between 88C and 91C but it took a bit longer to reach 88C. Special Thanks to svl7 for undervolting the vbios :D.

Looks like the key here is the Turbo fan speed which occurs at 91C. Too bad Clevo removed the Fn+1 function. I'll post back again when I get to try the 0.80 vbios.

Could someone kindly dump a 7970M Clevo bios?

Ok here's the result with 0.80v. The temperature still goes as high as the stock voltage, and the 3D clock GPU load is very unstable, jumping between 74% and 99% frequently. The only difference this vbios made was delaying how soon the temperature reaches to the same top temp. As in heat reduction, undervolting has come to a conclusion "it's kinda useless on the GTX 675M in Clevo". In the end it's all because that the Turbo fan speed only kicks in at 91C and no Fn + 1 function. But this is only on Furmark, I still need to test games like BF3 with this vbios and the 0.85 vbios. Special thanks again to svl7 for helping me to undervolt the vbios :p.

Cheers! Better test it with some games, as I already told you, it's healthier for your card.

Hi there svl7! So far I've done 2hr BF3 test with the 0.80 vbios, ended up with highest 79C and I didn't see any sudden drop in FPS so I guess the trottling at 0.80 only happens on Furmark :D . I'm going to test 0.85 now, need to retest stock too so 4 more hours to go!

After testing with BF3, FFXIV, Crysis 2 and Alan wake for a week. Voltage 0.80 actually gave me 3 degree C decrease vs the 0.87 vbios. So undervolting actually makes a little difference. I still haven't tested the 0.85v vbios tho.

One very big thing I found about the P150EM that decrease your temp up to 14C depending on your clock setting and votage setting : I removed the back cover :D

    ------Stock--------------Stock clock, stock volage (0.87)-----------------------
Backplate on: 86C at stock clock, stock voltage, gpu usage 99%
Backplate off: 74C at stock clock, stock voltage, gpu usage 99%

    ------Undervolt----------Stock clock, voltage 0.80-------------------------------
Backplate on: 83C at stock clock, voltage 0.80, gpu usage 99%
Backplate off: 71C at stock clock, voltage 0.80, gpu usage 99%

    --------OC------------Clock 720/1650, stock voltage (0.87)---------------------
Backplate on: 91C at 720/1650, stock voltage, gpu usage 99%
Backplate off: 79C at 720/1650, stock voltage, gpu usage 99%

    ----Undervolt OC---------Clock 720/1650, voltage 0.80-------------------------
Backplate on: 91C at 720/1650, voltage 0.80, gpu usage 99%
Backplate off: 77C at 720/1650, voltage 0.80, gpu usage 99%

Almost forgot... I managed to get my hands on the Clevo VBIOS. A P170EM owner (SFVogt) at a German forum was kind enough to follow all my instructions so that I was able to extract the file for him.
Btw, he put up a very nice P170EM threadover there, some fantastic pics of the system and hardware, really worth a look, check it out.

Attached is the VBIOS, have fun.

Update: Taking the backplate off really does an impressve work, this plus the undervolted vbios 0.80. I was still able to push the Core clock to 760/1800 MHz before artifacts appear.

This new data is after playing 6 hours straight on BF3, FFXIV(Ambient Occlusion: On) and Alan Wake:
Backplate off: 77C at 744/1800, voltage 0.80v, gpu usage 99%

Didn't raise 1 degree from 720/1650, 0.80v. I really wish leaving backplate on could do the same...

The backplate needs to be made of aluminum. That or have a lot more holes in it.

I'm not hijacking here, but guys, I've worked for some hours analyzing and problem solving, and I've successfully made a complete consolidated summary of some serious heat issues many many users are having with the AMD7970 and their P150/P170 notebooks (especially me) along with a couple unique solutions. Just about anyone with a Clevo 150 or 170 model can benefit. Especially you guys since you want to OC your stuff. Hope it helps! If it does I'd love to see before/after feedback with clocks/temps and all that good stuff :)
