P150EM USB 3.0 temperamental at best..... Any experience ?

I am having troubles with the usb 3.0 ports on the clevo. Sometimes my devices are recognized as 3.0, sometimes s usb 2. I can plug in a usb 3 device, use it as usb 3 with usb3 speeds, unplug safely, plug it in again and suddenly it will want to be a usb 2 device.
Now before asking for any help from all you god people I have to tell you status of my system:
- I have the latest intel drivers for chipset hm77, and the latest drivers for usb 3.0 root hub & extensible host controller
- I AM using usb 3( USB 3 drives, usb 3 cables, usb 3 ports)
- I have switched off the power saving ability for usb
- I have tested with pc wizard 2012, confirming what I have told you.

I am very happy for any input here although I HAVE tried the simple tricks that are mostly recommended.

 

I would suggest researching the difference between USB2 and USB3 connectors. If there are more contacts in USB3 connectors that allow it to move data faster, it could be that the additional contacts for the USB3 are not properly hitting those in the connector. (Remember, this is all theoretical, so don't go off this completely)

 

But what about the fact that sometimes they register correctly with f.ex my external hdd enclosure and I get full stable usb 3.0 speeds, and then suddenly I do not ? I appreciate and understand what you are saying but this goes for all 3 usb ports.....
And s far as I can see the pins are ok. Also this goes for several peripherals so ......
I will have a closer look at the pins for sure, and thank you for suggestion!

 

Ok, so I checked the contacts - could not find a problem. Nevertheless I connected a hdd i hadn't tried before, and it worked flawlessly. The 2 old ones I was having problems with are still on and off when it comes to usb3/usb2 but at least I have isolated the problem a bit. Whether it is certain type of controllers, bad equipment or poor driver compatibility I still don't know, but at least I know my usb 3 ports are not bust.....
