    hey guys

I've owned a P150EM since Sep 2012 and I've decided to sell it and buy something else.

Mainly I'm selling it because it's simply too noisy for me and has too many niggles that continue to irritate me, like fan noise and the fact that they stay at full power even after temps are down and it's been idle for hours (you have to reboot or start a program that activates the dGpu to wind them down).

I've been out of the market since I bought this system so im completely out of touch now.

What is the new 'it' system? Which clevo model? what are the improvements? what are the current issues etc? What should I be going for now. My budget is around $2,000 again.

    Thank you

Not so much an "it" system, just whatever screen size and upgrades you want. In the same 15" size range you have the 8258 and 8268 of which the main difference between the two is the extra SATA SSD bay on the 8258.

Ok, but are they even worth upgrading to? have they resolved the heat sink, noise issues that were present on the P150EM? Is there anything I should know?

I'd recommend reading through HT's Review in the owners lounge ( link). Machines are pretty mild noisewise under idle, I've heard numerous people say near silent. Under load it does get louder just like any other system, but nothing that's too extreme at all. Not sure what you meant by the previous issues though, if you had particular concerns though I'd be glad to answer them.

I found a P157SM modded BIOS on that link. Is there one for the newer P157SM-A (Sager NP8258) yet ?

The post suggests its compatible with P157SMx. Just making sure..

EDIT: Never mind. Found it. :)

    @fiddlesticks
if the fan is the main issue i also have that and there is a simple solution that has worked for some people but not all.
all i do is open some software which i have a shortcut on my desktop. anything that is associated with the dedicated card like monitoring software, steam, origin.
i open nvidia inspector, wait 1 second, close nvidia inspector and fans stop intantly.

it has been a known glitch that was reported to clevo but as of yet it still affects some but not all.

alternatively as stated above Prema's BIOS mod. if still under warranty check with supplier first.

I do the shame thing (on my clevo p150em), but it´s really annoying to have to do that, I think it could be esayly fixed with a bios update made by clevo (or any resealler), I don´t know what are they waiting.
This is a very known problem, I can´t understand it.
This kind of problems may make a lot of people don´t buy or sell their laptops, and not to buy a clevo never more.
