As of yesterday the Fn + F11 combo doesn't work, wifi doesn't turn on and the light stays off, nothing happens at all. All other function combos work, including brightness, volume, touchpad and bluetooth. How do I get wifi to work again? Has anyone else had this problem?

    Thanks

    EDIT: Solution at post #9.

agree. if all the other shortcuts work then reload the driver again from either the driver cd or suppliers website.

have you updated software or loaded new programs since it last worked?

if not then there was a windows update last night so wonder if that could of corrupted something.

Yes, device manager doesn't show any exclaimation points or problems. I've installed no new drivers recently of any kind.

I have been having problems with the HotKey software (what a piece of sh*t), which I uninstalled a while ago (i.e. gave up on). I could try re-installing that again (though I really don't want to).

well if you uninstalled the hotkey driver a while back your lucky any of the shortcuts are working.

I'll try that later tonight, thanks.

    Nothing's changed really.

It couldn't be the windows update because I'd have had to connect via WiFi to download it.

It self destructed everytime I used hibernate, requiring all manner of crap to get it working again. I like hibernate so I'd always forget and curse when it gave me error messages the next time I turned it on. I only used it for the keyboard colours anyway, and I preferred hibernate over them.

Is Fn + F11 only a shortcut? Is there a way of turning the WiFi back on without it? I had a poke around this morning but didn't have time before work to look properly.

    Thanks

Fixed it. In case anyone else has this problem, here's what I did (doesn't require an internet connection).

Go to Device Manager in control panel, go to Network Adapters, right click on the Intel wireless card, click Uninstall, uncheck the box "Delete the driver software for this device", then click OK. Restart computer and the wireless drivers should be installed automatically.

Thanks to MrDJ and drieschel for the advice on the driver.

You're left with whatever driver Microsoft has in their database - a safe install but often outdated is all. As long as it works though!
